Question about Bissell 7901-1 ProHeat Scotchgard Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum

2 Answers

Hi my proheat bissell 7901 stopped pumping water to the floor, but it pumps water from the hand hose. I read the manual and followed how to check belt and the flat belt on right side of shampooer is fine and I turned on and it turns and so do the brushes at the bottom of the machine. I was reading online and I guess there's two belts on this machine? where can I find the other belt to see if it needs replacing. I guess it's a ribbed belt? that is the water pump belt?

Just taken ours apart with the same problem... found it was caused by the 2 halves of the main casing coming apart in the area where the upright pedal release is. I found this to be due to the upper casing having broken in 2 places - the bottom of the screw wells. This means that the water tank cannot exert sufficient pressure on the valve to release the water. Only solution is a new top cover assembly

If the unit will pump solution to either location then the pump is ok. (and the belt is a pain to replace)

more than likely either the valve to the floor nozzles is faulty or you have a clog in that path. Follow the clear skinny tubing from the nozzles to the valve. You can trace the solution flow path and find what is stopping it. Good-Luck.

Bissell Proheat only sprays for a few seconds.

When was the last time you changed the flat belt? Even if it isn't broken it could be so stretched out that when the brush hits the floor it slows or stops the pump from spraying. If its a new belt then and your sure there arent any clog's that usually means the pump is bad. Also if youve ever used anything other than bissell shampoo in the machine it could have ruined the pump as well.

Water will not come out to do floor work

HI, I have a very similar Bissell. My problem was that after unscrewing the top plate and looking at the pipes the pipes feeding the front sprays were full of gunge blocking the sprayheads. I managed to flush it through by carefully removing the T connector that feeds the front 2 pipes, placing it back so it stuck out of one of the holes and replacing the water tank and turning on while holding it over a bucket. Black and white bits came out but it did flush through. I am thinking of doing a youtube video - let me know if this will help you!

Does water squirt out of the hose nozzle, if it does, then check the heater inside the handle asm. Make sure that where the tubes hook up to it are not clogged. If water doesn't squirt, check for the seal at the bottom of the tank, it needs to be on the tank, not in the hole. The flow indictor cap is leaking air or maybe is too tight. If you had the top cover off, make sure that the tubes are routed right so as not to get pinched when the cover is put back on, the smart mix knob should be in the water setting and that the piston is on the bottom of the smart mix know. Pump is bad.
