Question about Harman Kardon AVR 510 Receiver

My AVR 510 has bigger issues than my wife. HELP !

The unit AVR 510 was functioning fine. After I moved, if you turned it on it would shut off almost immediately. If you got it to stay on you had to turn it way down in volume. Now after two years in retirement if you turn it on it will stay on but will not have any sound at all, no matter what the volume is set at.

I think you have a main board problem and also moiture may have got to it .
electronics are not what they use to be and these days you really have to place them in the right spot or it wont last .
the main volume dial may require cleaning .

When reciever is turned on it shut's right back off. It will not stay on. Also it would loose volume. Why is this and can it be repaired?

this is a main power issue and the only way to fix it is to replace the main board which is the heart of the reciever . costly exercise . sorry to hear that

Shuts off then red light indicator flashes, disconnected all speakers but still wont work

Hi, this is a power board issue. remove the cover and make sure that this unit doesn't have blow fuse. if the fuse is fine, you will then need to replace the integrated power/ main board.

Denon AVR881 Turns on for few seconds then shuts OFF

(Probably too late to help you, but I'll post so others can see)
I had the same thing happen to my trust AVR-881 two weeks ago. Even re-initializing the processor was no help.
I took it to the repair shop. They replaced three transistors on the board, and charged about $175 for the job.

Avr 1804 denon 7.1 reciver

Did you check the Audio-Video slider button in the middle of the remote? It needs to be on Audio, else the remote sends video channel number signals when you press the numbers.

Poping in speakers

Same issue with my AVR-589...2-15 minutes after sound is playing (via TV or DVD). I checked all wires and speakers. Even reconfigured to audio only (analog) coming in, same issue. Put my old Denon receiver in and the problem disappears...possible overheating issue with this new unit?

Intermittent breaks/pauses in sound

Yes. I had a H/K reciever in my shop last month with a similar problem. It turned out that it had micrscopic cracks developing on the motherboard, which caused it to shut down as they heated up. It wasn't repairable.

My Denon AVR-887 Keeps turning itself off

I have one and the same thing happened. try resetting your microprocessor and if that does not work, then check the wiring of the speakers. if that is working fine and no wires are touching then I unplugged everything and was still having the issue. took it in for service and it was found that the transmitor was shorted as the speakers that I was using was too high in ohms. it is possible that it could be your caps also if resetting the microprocessor does not help. You can find out how to reset the microprocessor from your manual. If you have the Denon avr 887 with the system turned off hold the power on button and the speaker A and B at the same time for a few seconds. This is compatible to rebooting your computer. Hope this works for you as this was and is my husbands favorite past times.

AVR 510 memory loss and s-video problems

In the event of the memory lose, you may check the capacitor C216 on the front PCB and replace with a good 0.047 Farad 5.5V.
