Question about Brother MFC-5440CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

LCD shows figure "7" no matter what button I press

Suddenly, no matter what button on my MC-5440CN I press, I get the figure 7 appearing on the LCD and nothing else happens.
I can operate all functions (print, fax, scan and copy) from my computer, but the manual options (including Start, Finish, Power Save - everything) only give me a "7"
I have tried disconnecting, rebooting etc but the machine will only work from the PC, not from the control panel.
Any ideas??

Your control panel has gone bad, or you have a stuck key.

Make sure all your keys move freely. If theyp're good, call your local service centre and get the price for a key keyboard assy. They're not expensive and are fairly easy to replace.

I have placed a detailed description in Details below.

You will need to use two columns to prevent a same number from showing up twice each time you need a new number just drag the two columns down.
A
orginal#
B2
=rand()*1000000
C2
=IF(B2=$A$2:$A50,RAND()*1000000,B2)

just fill in the second a value with wherever that column ends with a $before the number. or leave as is and it will just continue to check. also use the decrease decimal button to make sure you have a full 6 digit number each cell.

If your really worried about making sure the number is not a repeat a logical test could go in third column.

D2
=IF(C2=$A$2:$A50,"Yes","No")

if you get a yes just drag the two columns down one more
Hope this helps.

_______________________________________________________
This needs more explanation and snap shot of the cells in question and more about what you want.

doesnt matter the size of the number you want a chosen number how is this number chosen??
to appear somewhere else??

What causes a dirty background?

Copied
1) - Power ON printer while holding both the + & - buttons until "OKIUSER" message appears in LCD.
2) - Press + or - button until "ENGINE DIAG MODE" is displayed.
3) Press "ENTER", displayed will be "DIAGNOSTIC MODE XX.XX.XX S-MODE"
4) Press + or - button until "NV-RAM INITIAL" is displayed.
Half way, dont stop too long it will time out....
5) Press "ENTER" again.
6) Will appear "TABLE 1" message.
7) Press "ENTER" until "EXECUTING RESET" message appear. ...............the "NV-RAM INITIAL" message will BLINK.
Tada....This procedure reset TONER, DRUM, FUSER and BELT...life counts
8) power OFF printer, wait 10 sec, and power ON again..

To access Service Mode in C9300 power ON printer with 0, 1, 6, 7 at same time...you can do some good damage in there!! (I warned ya!)

Resetting consumables for OKI C7300,C7500,C9300 printer I think!

1. Hold buttons 0 + 1 + 6 + 7 on startup.

2. Press button 0 several times until "DIAGNOSTIC MODE xx.xx.xx" shows.

3. Hold buttons 2 + 3 until "ENGINE DIAG LEVEL 4" shows.

4. Press button 1 to scroll to "COUNTER SET".

5. Press button 2 to scroll through menu items (button 6 scrolls backwards)

6. To alter the value of an item, first press button 3 to select the digit to be altered. The selected digit will slowly flash. (Button 3 moves to the right through the digits. Button 7 takes you to the left.)

7. Then press button 2 to increase the value of the selected digit. Press button 6 to decrease the value.

8. When the changes have been made hold buttons 1 + 3 + 5. The screen will flash three times and then an * will appear on the right of the screen. The new value is set.

9. To leave the counter set menus, turn the printer off.
IMPORTANT

Each colour toner counter shows life as percentage used. So a toner showing 30% has used up 30% of its toner. 100% would indicate a near empty toner. This is the reverse of the toner life shown from the "usage menu" when the printer is in normal operation, which shows the toners as a percentage life remaining. You will want toner showing 00%. note:this is oposite of what you see in user mode
Some models exhange these steps

3) HOLD 0 + 4 "ENGINE DIAG LEVEL 2" shows

4) Press 1 to cycle to "fuser unit"

5) 2 to scroll to TONER

REST IS SAME WE WANT TO SET WHAT i GUESS IS AT 100% TO 0%.

No instructions need to know how to operate

The Nikon MC-EU1 Remote Cord is an accessory available for the Nikon COOLPIX 880/885/990/995 4300/4500/5000/5400/5700/8700 cameras. The MC-EU1 Remote Cord is 80 cm long and allows the camera to be fired remotely like a cable release for a film-based camera.

The MC-EU1 Remote Cord's main function is to prevent camera shake. As well as the shutter release function, the MC-EU1 has the following functions.
1. operate the camera's zoom remotely,
2. advance or return images in the playback mode,
3. Controlling interval photography, automatically fire the cameras over a given interval.
Note this is the only Nikon remote cord available NIKON COOLPIX cameras and is only compatible with the cameras listed.

The Nikon MC-EU1 remote cord has two Interval modes, A and B

In Interval Mode A: the first photograph is taken at the start; and subsequent photographs taken at the specified time intervals, thereafter.

In Interval Mode B: the first photograph is not taken until the specified time interval has passed and subsequent photographs taken at the specified time intervals.

These modes can be selected by pressing the MODE button. The device cycles through settings in the order, Remote Mode, Interval Mode A, and Interval Mode B. When the Remote Mode is selected, the LCD panel displays Remote; when Interval Mode A is selected, Interval appears together with the letter A and Interval Mode B is indicated by Interval and the letter B.

The interval Modes, allow you to take photographs one after the other at a selected interval, which can be set in increments of one second to any value from two minutes to twenty-four hours. Interval modes are only available when the camera is in recording mode and cannot be used when the camera is in playback mode.

Setting the Interval

1. Setting the camera to recording mode and the remote cord to Interval Mode A or B, the interval setting will be shown in the remote cord LCD display. Items currently selected for editing will flash. Each time the selection (SEL.) button is pressed, the item selected will change as shown below.

Select the desired time by altering the settings (second [S], minute [M], or hour [H]) one at a time. While the item is flashing, press the down button to decrease the time set, or the up button to increase the time set. The value displayed will change by one each time either button is pressed.

2. After adjusting settings, press the selection button until the display is no longer flashing.

Starting Interval Mode Photography

• Half-pressing the remote shutter-release button has the same effect as half-pressing the shutter-release button on the camera, readying the camera to take a photograph. If the interval is set to less than two minutes when the shutter-release button is half-pressed, the interval display will flash. Choose an interval of two minutes or more.

• Full-pressing the remote shutter-release button has the same effect as full-pressing the shutter-release button on the camera, starting interval mode photography.

• When the camera enters interval mode, it will either take a picture and then begin the count to the next photograph (Interval Mode A), or begin the count to the first photograph (Interval Mode B). The Interval indicator in the LCD display will flash while interval mode is in effect.

Ending Interval Mode Photography

• Half-pressing the remote cord shutter-release button while an interval mode is in progress stops the interval photography.

• Photography will also stop should you run out of available space on the compact flash card; In this case, the number of exposures remaining displayed in the LCD panel will be 000.

The MC-EU1 has a feature that when the zoom button is pressed twice in rapid succesion, the camera will start zooming until this function is cancelled by pushing the button a third time. If this function is not cancelled, no other function is possible with the MC-EU1. If the MC-EU1 does not respond as expected please ensure you have not activated the zoom function.

Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device. You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41 or 4F the print head is defective. If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service. If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this:
Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number
is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.This will reset the purge count value. Then restart the printer, hopefully without the
annoying cannot clean message.
