Question about Nintendo Wii Rock Band Guitar for Wii
When my son and I went to play Rockband tonight, the guitar turned on (blue lights on) but the light on the white square box for the wireless controller is not coming on. We've tried everything, starting with turning everything off. It for some reason is also showing up on the screen that it's detecting the microphone, but it won't detect the guitar. I thought maybe there's a dead battery in the controller box, and opened it, but no battery. Can I replace the small square white box (the remote controller box.?)

Was your mic hooked up when the system was turned on? The mic is probably signed in. The mic needs to be reconnected and signed out. Or reboot the whole system with what you want to use plugged in only.

SOURCE: I got my daughter Wii
Rock Band is a 4 player game, each player taking their own role. They can choose from Guitar, Bass, Drums or Microphone. If your daughter wants to play guitar and sing at the same time, she will need to play a multiplayer game and use 2 Mii profiles, one for guitar and one for singing.
A single player cannot play 2 instruments using the same Mii either. You must use separate profiles.

Ensure that the receiver is plugged in to the USB port in back of the Wii Console. If the light on the receiver is blinking, too, then with the Guitar turned on, press the white button on the receiver.

Unfortunately, the guitar that comes with the Guitar Hero does not work with Rock Band or Rock Band 2. Rock Band, as you mentioned, recognizes the Wiimote as the controller for the microphone.
Unfortunately, you will have to get a guitar that is specifically designed for Rock Band.
I know this isn't the answer that is popular, but if you vote for my solution, please vote at least "Thanks for Trying".
