This is a main power issue and the only way to fix it is to replace the main board which is the heart of the reciever . costly exercise . sorry to hear that

I get my receiver to about 65% volume and it turns off

Check the ohm load for the reciever, then check to see what ohms are of the speakers. make sure they match. 4ohm to 4ohm, 8ohm to 8ohm. If unit feels hot when it shuts off, it's a themal overload, put in to keep the reciever from getting damaged. It comes back on when cool right? Overload could be on its way out and shutting down at a lower temp too

MY YAMAHA RECIEVER KEEPS SHUTTING OFF

The unit is going into protection mode. The message is a generic one and usually means that the output section is drawing too much current and has been shut down. Defective speakers can cause this, but in this case, I suspect that there is a problem in the front end that is allowing DC current to pass to the output circuits. This will cause a problem that will shutdown the system. Yamaha designs are not the most straightforward nad I would not suggest you attempt this repair without prior repair experience. Take this to a service center and request a detailed repair estimate and report the results here. Armed with that info, we canguide you further.

My reciever is shutting down completley when i try to turn on the second zone. i tried rewiring it but it still does it could it be the reciever or do i just have the settings incorrect?

if the reciever shut down with zone 2 on, zone 2 volume at -3 and nothing connected to zone 2 it needs repair if not reconnect the speakers to zone 2 speaker connections and make sure you do not have more than 4 pair of speakers with impedence matching volume controls or a impedence matching speaker selector box

Reciever won't stay on

Do you have too much of a load on the amplifier? Or as SallieJohns mentioned, is it getting adequate ventilation?

Avr 3806 power shuts off when volume turned up

Hello david 420

It looks like your receiver's high-speed protection circuit is being activated. It is definitively not a fuse. When a fuse pops, you have to physically replace it. When the protection circuit is activated, the speaker output is cut off and the power supply indicator flashes. There are a few reasons why this happens:

1.- Your speaker wire connections are loose. Whether they are banana plugs or bare wire ends, make sure the speaker terminals on the back of your receiver are tight using clockwise turning.
2.- Verify that your speakers have an impedance between 6 and 16 ohms. Your receiver was designed to work with that impedance range. Any impedance lower than 6 ohms will activate the protection circuitry.
3.- The receiver is used at high volume levels over a long period, which results in an
extreme temperature rise. Improving the ventilation conditions around the unit might help alleviate the problem.

If after complying with these suggestions, problem is still present, you might need to have the unit checked by a professional for possible circuit failure.
Hope this helps. Let me know.
