Not enough battery power. If it is plugged in, and I assume that it is, the power port has detached from the mother board and needs to be re-soldered. A laptop repair shop will charge you from $25 to $40 for a new port and $60 to $100 in labor. Most will charge about $50 for a diagnostic but will probably credit you that amount if you let them fix it.

Please check your power option settings in control panel. They may be set to power off after a few minutes. If they are all set to at least an hour then your battery is going bad or your motherboard is unfortunately dying. :(

My Lenovo laptop is frozen and the mouse, keyboard and power off button isn't workind! What should I do ?

Either wait for it to start responding again (I'd give it a few minutes) or just pull out the battery to force it to shut down.

After that just insert the battery again and try booting up your laptop normally. It's quite possible your laptop will give a few error messages because you didn't power it down normally.

Hope this helped!

1. Try pressing the power button for several seconds (10-15). It should power off the laptop.
If not, unplug the charger and remove the battery for a few minutes.

2. Then try to start it up again.

My pc shuts down just after booting up. Could not get it to power backup with or without the battery. The next day I tried and it powered up briefly as it went thru a chdsk routine. It started up after...

Without a hard drive, you would get a message telling you there was no bootable device.
Check the battery--does it do this stuff without the battery in the computer? If it starts normally, then it's the battery. Does it start up and run for a few minutes, then quit--but you are able to restart it after a few minutes just to repeat the cycle? Then suspect heat. Bad fan or dirty fan (lack of CPU cooling).
You didn't say if Windows actually starts. Can you boot it from a CD / DVD? Can you get to the system prompt and keep it running? If so, suspect a corrupt Windows system.

BTW--when doing a power check, be sure your adapter is putting out the correct voltage--~18 v.

No power

Reset the memory modules and any other cards that are accessable, like the WIFI and modem cards.
Power up your laptop, does it work normally?
If not, then try rhe following steps.
Does it work when the battery is removed and the AC adapter plugged in?
If so you may have a bad battery.
Try this, unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery for a few minutes, leave the battery out and connect the AC adapter, power on your system, does the laptop work normally?
Power down, and reinstall the battery, with the AC adapter still connected, power up your laptop, does it work normally?
If not, the battery may be defective.
If NONE of the steps work then *********** board needs to be replaced.

I hope this helped, good luck and have a nice day.

How to reset bios password

Im not that familiar with laptop hardware but i do know that the bios information is maintained by a battery somewhere on the motherboard. Find that battery and it should reset the bios setting back to default. This also includes a password. Leave the battery out for a few minutes and make sure no other power source is connected. As long as the board has power it will maintain the settings. Once you are sure that all power is gone from the motherboard leave it off off for a few minutes then reinstall everything. You should be back to square one in your bios.

Power Problem

Sounds like normal wear and tear, you might need a replacement. I'd suggest looking on eBay to help save money. Or you could proably order one from HP
