My TV no longer responds to a remote and there is no button or menu item for changing the video input to the composite input which is how I can connect the cable or DVD.
I think you are right about VHS up front.......One more option =
buy a seperate video input switch box..then you wouldn't need
to use front input ........T.

Without a remote controller, you may have limited options to change modes on your Apex digital TV. However, you may be able to change the mode by using the buttons on the TV itself.
Here are some general steps you can try:
Turn on your TV and make sure your DVD player is connected to it.
Look for the "Menu" button on the TV and press it.
Navigate through the menu options using the arrow buttons on the TV until you find "Input" or "Source."
Press the "Enter" button to select the input/source option.
Use the arrow buttons to select the input/source that corresponds to your DVD player.
Press the "Enter" button to confirm the selection.
Press the "Menu" button to exit the menu.
Note that the specific steps may vary depending on the model of your Apex TV. You may also consult the user manual for your TV for more information on changing modes without a remote controller.
Press the "Menu" button on the front of your Sharp TV. This will allow you to access the menu for your television without a remote. When the menu appears on screen, use the "Channel" buttons to move up and down, the "Volume" buttons to move left and right and the "Input" buttons to select items. https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-program-a-sharp-tv-without-a-remote
On some TVs, you can change inputs by using a Source or Input button on the TV. These front panel buttons may be on the bottom of the TV bezel, on the right hand side or on the back on the right side as you face the TV. Once you locate the FPA buttons, you either press the Input button several times. Press the Select equivalent or just wait for the input to change. Alternatively, you need touse the Channel or Volume buttons (one pair becomes Up/Down, the other Left/Right) to navigate through the list. Then hit the button that gives the Select equivalent. A few models let you change inputs after pressing the Menu button on the TV and moving through the on-screen menu to a Source sub-menu. Not all TVs support this.
Please add a comment with the manufacturer and model of your TV for specifics that apply to your TV.
I hope this helps.

(Note: if you replace your remote control, check for a Source or Input button on the universal remote. Then try multiple codes for your TV brand to find a code that gives the input function properly.)
Without the remote, some TV's are useless. Is there a menu button on the TV itself? If so, you will have to determine what buttons do what. For example, volume up and down may let you scroll through the menu while channel up and down may let you go left or right in the menu. If you only have volume, chanel and input/source buttons, you may need to order a new remote to solve this.
I have tried to post solutions, but they seem to be too long, so I will have to post more than once to get the info to you.
First part- the "Line-In" Video Source thing many people are having fun with. Try these options from the Samsung FAQs website.:
