your laser lens might be dirty. try cleaning it with a laser lens cleaner for video game systems (sold at walmart, target, best buy, etc.). or... if you have the newer, skinnier redesigned PS2, you can use a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol (not dripping). gently touch it to the laser lens and gently twirl it. use other end of q-tip to dry lens, gently twirling it. hope this helps :D
try cleaning the lens.
for a slimline PS2, try a Q-tip with a little bit of alcohol on it and lightly touch the lens. gently TWIRL the Q-tip. use the other end of the Q-tip to dry the lens, again, gently twirl the Q-tip. or you could use a laser lens cleaner (see below).
for a fat PS2, either use a laser lens cleaner specifically for video game systems (Best Buy, etc.)
or go here and go to the very end.
hope this helps :D
actuallly a lot of ps2 games can be played with the HDMI connected. I do it all the time... however yes the 60 gig will not play every ps2 game and there is a whole slew of the 60 gigs that are not backwards compatable at all. check it out on wikipedia's page on the ps3.
I haven't had a problem with any ps2 game yet, and the only ps game that I own that hasn't played on my ps3 is FF8.
Does this problem apply to ALL of your discs? If not, then first, when putting your discs in the tray, be sure that ALL of the three PINS on the tray that holds the disc are locked in place, meaning they should all be sticking out on the hole of your DVD. This happened to me a lot...heheh...then, if this problem apply to all of your disc, There probably is a problem with the lens of your PS2...either slim or the fat one...then the only solution is to have your lens replaced...sorry, but i don't know how much it cost now...
It's a well known fact PS2's had a cheap lazer fitted to them, that's why when it gets chiped to play copy games, not long after it starts playing up.
The lazer may just need aligning, purchase a cd/dvd cleaning cd rom as these can check audio, lazer alignment and clean the lens.
