Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Console starts up, games work, but controllers dont light up or work.

My 360 starts up and will boot games fine. However, i can't use any of my controllers. The controls do not light up. Is there a certain board that could be damaged that controls the power and actions of the controllers?

It all started after my buddy spilled something on the system, which leads me to believe that it's doubtful it's the controllers, and may possibly be a bad board. Any help is greatly appricated.

The controller board is bad, you can open it up and air it out and pray.

How I fix the xbox 360 controller blinking and sync light problem, when the sync button doesnt work?

My only guess would be that you disconnected the cable to the sensor while cleaning your Xbox. Have you checked all the connections before reassembling it? Check out the video I linked, maybe it'll help you!

How I fix the xbox 360 controller blinking and sync light problem, when the sync button doesnt work?

Yes, this can be tricky sometimes.

Be close to your console when synching your controllers. As always make sure the controller is on.
You will need to press both the synch button on the console and on the controller approximately the same time. If you have done this correctly. The controllers should have synched to the console in a few seconds.

Here is a link to show you how to do it for the Xbox 360.

Connect controller to your Xbox 360

To synch a Xbox One Controller go to link below here.

Connect wireless Xbox One controller to your console

Also just in case the light is flashing the and the controller is already synched, that means the battery is low and you need to change it out for new batteries.

Hope this has helped and good luck.

Hardware failure

Make sure your A/V (or component) cables and power cable are connected properly. Take your hard drive off and turn the system on, then if it's fine turn it off, replace the HDD, and turn it on again.

if that dont work try this

--==Console Reset Codes==--
Clear All Installed Game Updates and Console Cache
  1. Go to the "system" blade
  2. Select "memory"
  3. Press Y on the HD symbol
  4. Press X,X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X
  5. A message will appear saying: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"
  6. Select Yes
Clear Any Failed system updates that cause the console to error.
  1. With the console off, press and hold the sync up button (the small white one)
  2. While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on the console
  3. Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up completely.
  4. During the boot process the console should clear any failed updates, allowing you to use it normally.

2 red lights

This problem may occur when the Xbox console is too hot or is overheating. The flashing lights mean that the internal temperature of your Xbox 360 console has exceeded acceptable temperature limits. Let your Xbox 360 console cool. You may have to wait several hours for your Xbox 360 console to cool enough. Don't turn on your Xbox 360 console when the console is hot.Verify that your Xbox 360 console has enough ventilation and that the fans are operating. If the two lights continue to flash red after you try steps 1 and 2, contact Xbox Customer Support.

Microsoft can be contacted by finding the number listed on the back of your video game booklets.

Good Luck to you and Happy Gaming.

Wireless controller

I dont know if you have been able to figure out what the proble was with your 360, but the exact SAME thing happened to me. The 360 seems to be working fine, game loads, and both the consoles and the controllers rings lit up green, but then the controllers ring just keeps flashing and the console won't recognize it. I 've tried other controllers and nothing worked and obviously I tried to synch it with the console time and time again. PLEASE HELP!!!

Xbox360 wont boot on first attempt after setting for a hour

If it works fine, then I wouldnt think anything of it, but If you want, you can see if your console is under warranty and have it repaired.

No ring of light no red nor green and controllers wont connect

i assume you mean wirelss controllers, if so, on the front of the console there is a round connect button marked '>>',( to the right of the memory port 2) press and release this and there is a little pairing connect button on the controller at the front press this, then the lights should then circulate and stop in either the upper left or upper right segments. you can view here if you prefer illustrations
