Question about HP w2558hc 25.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor
For the first few months I could access the camera with no problem, and since I was fooling with it constantly it was in my recently used programs list in the Start menu. But a while back the icon disappeared and when I try opening the HP MediSmart menu and click on video, it redirects me to Window Media Player.
There's another video program I can get to, but I liked the simplicity of the MediaSmart option. How can I get the icon back so I can use the HP MediaSmart webcam again? And why doesn't the HP MediaSmart menu take me where it's supposed to?
what OS? stated,
nobody can help you , unless the whole system is stated,
it wont work as supposed to because you have added other non HP software related to CAM, and they are in conflict.
remove that conflicting software
or do a HP OS refresh. using HP restore.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: HP Digital Media Archive Pop UP
If you are running windows xp, go to start / run . type: msconfig
Go to the start-up tab and see if you can find a reference to the "Digital Media" program and uncheck it.
Also look in the start-up folder in Start / All Programs for this program.
You can delete it from there. This does not remove the program, just does not tell it to start automatically. If you don't use the program, uninstall it.
Sounds like one of those ADD-ON programs that get installed with printers or cameras.

first check device manager to see if theres a mismatch ( the yellow exclaimation mark) next to the description of the component, if it fine then check add hardware app in windows to see if the system is recognizing it and if its functional. then check drivers for web cam , then the program in windows that starts the webcam, some progs place an icon on the screen to active the program.
