I have a Kenmore icemaker.  I had the ref. discounted and re-counted it and now the icemaker does not work.  I checked the value and that works, I checked the water line to see if it was frozen and its not.  What is the next step?  Thanks.

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.

I have a Sears / Kenmore refrigerator, model 106.53662300. I purchased it new in 2003. In 2005, just after the warranty expired, the ice maker went out. I had to replace the whole unit. It is a Whirlpool ice maker, that I was able to pic up new for around $45. Right after that, the digital temperature control pad went out. About $220 for the part alone. I replaced that part myself also. Now, it is not cooling. I suspect the compressor starter relay. WHAT A PILE OF JUNK this refrigerator is! I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER KENMORE, which I think was built by Whirlpool.

Look at the Infra Red ice level detector in the freezer compartment sides and see if it is blinking 2 times. If the blinks are present possibly failed IR units. There are troubleshooting proceedures on line. Eric B.

The only thing you have not attacked here is the control unit which turns the unit on and off. The model numbers you've cited don't turn up any units...either Whirlpool or Kenmore. However, you'll find that there is a switch which turns the unit on and off somewhere. It is defective or off. Many of these units have a schematic printed on the back panel. Trace it down and find it.

My Amana bottom freezer refrigerator BB120TPW is 11 years old. The ice maker doen't make any ice. I can hear a noice coming from the unit, but no ice. I turned off the water and unpluged it. If it...

Ice maker stopped making ice. For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------

I have a kitchenaid 23cd.Icemaker doesn't work has 40# water pressure 5 deg in freezer water works to fill glass no water in ice tray unpluged for 24 hours

If the water dispenser is working and fill glass function is working but the ice maker section there is no water in the tray then its faulty ice maker valve. This is a twin valve. The valve is one unit, but has two sections one for water and one for ice dispenser. This valve is got faulty and not working for both sections so water is not entering the ice maker tray.
There is a water valve at the back of the ice maker. This valve controls the flow of water in the ice maker chamber. If this valve is not functioning as required then water will not enter the ice maker. This valve is at the back of ice maker connected to the water fill tube.It has to be replaced to clear this problem.

Hello, my ice maker is not working.. the water is

Probably the solenoid (electric water valve that opens when the ice maker calls for water, located at the back of the unit in the bottom, behind the cover) is leaking and the fill tube to the ice maker gets clogh with ice , or the valve doesn't work, in both cases it needs to be replaced.

If there is a reset button on your ice maker try pushing it. Many ice makers have two holes for reset. A general rule of thumb is if the ice maker fingers are stopped in a slightly vertical position then your ice maker unit is working. If the fingers are stopped anywhere else then it needs some sort of attention or replaced. Make sure there is water, or ice in the ice maker tray, if not then the problem is with water supply.
