Question about Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer
I have on error message: jam 1/no cartridge
I have been having the same problem. I almost gave up on this printer. After careful analysis I noticed that if I pulled up on the cartridge while it was inserted and held it up (I took the door off and depressed the door closed button w/ a screwdriver) the printer would work fine.
I shimmed the front of the cartridge w/ a piece of rubber or folded up paper. There appears to be something in the back that doesn't make full contact if you do not do this. Now it works fine.
I haven't had any feed problems, but I kept my shim to the front right and made sure it doesn't go too deep.

I also have been having the jam1 no cartridge error on a dell 1600n, i think the tell tale symptom of this specific problem is when starting the printer is says warming up and then toner 0%, even with a brand new cartridge. I tried shaking the printer upside down (read on other posts) to check for stuck objects, i tried manually feeding a cardstock folder in and out, but it didn't seem to be any jam or foreign object. I had a eerie feeling it had something to do with the connection with the toner on the right side, i even tied to straighten the connection as they seemed to be not uniform, finally i found this post and folded over a small piece of cardboard and "wedged" it in the right side under the toner cartridge about the size of a postage stamp and 3 thick. TA DA!!! it FINALLY reconizes cartridge and says toner 100%!!!! YEA!!! thanks. This forum is a lifesaver!

Paper is misfeeding after it has been pulled out of the cartridge. Remove toner cartridge, check for loose pieces of paper. Turn printer around and open rear door. Remove any stuck pieces. Remove paper tray and put back in. Error should clear if no sensors are malfunctioning.
