Er3 flashes hot water will not reach set point

Had this happen to me before, if you have hot water from the boiler going in and out of the boiler mate and the temps are not rising within the hot water means more than likely you may need to remove exchanger and clean sediment off element, basically sediment creates a blanket over the heat source causing poor thermal conductivity. Things to check before removing heat exchanger

- outlet temp of boiler water to aquamate -inlet temp of boiler water to aqua mate= 20-30'F if low then bad thermal transfer or poor water movement
-make sure sensor is reading properly
- get boiler temp higher to speed up thermal gain in water heater

My jandy xl 250 pool heater runs great for 5-6 minutes with a blue flame then it turns orange and runs hot ive replaced all 5 burners wire brushed and power-washed the heat exchanger. I tore it all apart...

bad mixture is correct. heater is under firing, lack of oxygen, hence the immense amount of soot or carbon build up underneath heat exchanger. Is heater inside a shed? if so u need 2 vent openings to provide combustion and ventilation air. vent blockage can also cause sooting and over heat conditions. your repair guy lacks alot of knowledge. burners and heat exchangers can be cleaned. i can give you a list of reasons of possible problems that im sure were never mentioned or checked

I have a Jandy XL 250 natural gas heater the exchanger was sooted up the burners were disfigured from overheating so ive cleaned the heat exchanger replaced the burners and the front panel still gets very...

Simply put, your heater is not (and hasn't been) getting enough gas. You should check to see if your gas line is properly sized for its distance to the meter, and if the meter is big enough to properly supply the heater. Water in the gas line will also starve the heater for gas. Good luck with it.

Heater leaks water on lower left side (side where gas attaches) towards rear. Do not want to take totally apart to get to leak. Side does not appear to come off.

The heater sides do come off. Your heat exchanger will be what is leaking. Some people (I have never tried) have had them welded at a local radiator shops with some sucess though it is likely the heat exchanger will have several thin areas likely to fail in the near future if you have a leak now.

New heat exchangers are expensive. If you would like a quote, contact us with your heater model and serial number at www.arrowpools.net.

The longer you leave it leaking, the more likely you are to damage other parts down in the bottom of the heater so it is not something you should let sit. If you are going to go without it for a while, close the water off if you have a bypass. Otherwise, consider having the plumbing re-arranged to bypass the heater.
