My printer doesn't power on. I bought a new ac adapter and cord, the green light is on, but the printer still doesn't work. Is something fried inside and how do I fix it?

Try to check for the USB cable or the parallel pot if it's inserted properly. If not, you can uninstall the HP software by going to control panel>add/remove programs. After unistalling it. You can reinstall again. If you have the cd..please run it again. Let the wizard detect again the printer. Hope this helps

I have a HP Deskjet D1560, and with the power cord plugged into a working outlet (I checked), the printer won't turn on. Is it just old? Is something wrong with the power cord or the printer?

There is only one way to find out if it is an issue with the printer or the Power cord.

Normally every HP printer has 2 parts. One cord connects the Printer to an Adapter. the Adapter cord then connects to the Wall outlet.

Now that you have connected the printer to working outlet, Check after 10-15 mins if the Adapter ( black box ) is warm or cold. If the Adapter is warm and the green LED light on adapter is glowing, then it could an issue with the Cord or the Printer.

Try with another Adapter or power cord to diagnose.

Shawn

The printer is plugged in but does not turn on. The green light on the AC adaptor is on. I have tried a friend's AC adaptor and it did not work either.

I think it would be wrong to suspect a problem with the adapter wire if the same problem occurs with two adapters. Do both adapters work with your friends printer? If so one would suspect that the plug port on your printer is defective.

This is the advice from the manual:

Power button is not lit

1 Disconnect the power supply cord from the wall outlet, and then from the printer.

2 Plug the cord all the way into the power supply port on the printer. make sure it is well seated

3 Plug the cord into an electrical outlet that other electrical devices have been using.

4 If the Power button light is not on, press Power.

If this does not correct the problem and it is a new purchase I would consider returning it to the vendor. Otherwise you may need to have a technician Tto investigate and confirn that power is reaching the printerre and the problem lis elesewhere with a switch or posisbly you need to replace the power connector port on the printer.

I have a CLT2054 and lost the power cord. I bought a new power cord but when I plug it in the light on cord goes out and TV wont come on. If I un plug cord light comes back on

You have short circuits inside the TV, the AC goes into shutdown when it senses too much current being draw. Post some pictures inside the TV if you can, wee need to look for short circuits, another thing, you bought new AC adapter with the same voltage and current rating, right?

Not charging

which green light?

light from the ac power adapter or the light from the battery?

if ac power adapter you are referring to try a diff power wall socket if ac power adapter still off then replace ac power adapter alone.

if battery light is off but the laptop works fine with ac adapter alone try updating the laptop BIOS.

if ac adapter light turns off when it plug to the laptop replace motherboard.

Laptop Not Getting Power

There could be a number of resons for this. Some thoughts:
1) Was your laptop working fine before you bought this new adapter? Eg. did it work with the previous one.
2) Are you positive that it is compatible? You should check all the power ratings against the old adapter (voltage output, current output).
3) Make sure the connector that plugs into the back of the laptop is a perfect fit. Connectors have a + and -. The outside metal ring may fit, but the inside 'pin' may be too small and not making contact with the receving part of the laptop.
4) Make sure that the connector inside the laptop has not broken. Easy way is to get a pencil with eraser and stick it in there and wiggle it around. If it moves sustantially, you may have some connector pins that have become unsoldered. If so, you need to get this fixed.

Laptop power lights won't come on

Does neither the charge nor the power light come on? Most Dell batteries have a button on them that you can press to determine how much power it has left. If your battery still has power try turning the computer on, and once you get into Windows see if it will detect the power cord or not.

If you can't get the machine to boot you can try your local Radio Shack. They normally have adapters for every laptop, and ask them if you can try it in the store to get your computer to turn on. If that cord works then something is wrong with your AC adaptor.

If neither cord works then either something is dead on your motherboard, or the power jack on the back of the laptop is loose (and not providing any power.)

Sony Vaio ac adapter submerged

If the ac adapter was plugged into the laptop at the time may be bad news. Unplug AC adapter, take out the battery and hold power button for 10 seconds. Then connect AC adapter and hit power. If that doesn't work put battery back in without ac adapter and hit power button.

If neither test works bring to repair center for diagnosis. Best case AC adapter would need replacing. Worst case Motherboard fried.

Thanks
