Compressor and evap fan cycling are controlled by a circuit board as well as the defrost. It is all in serie - once your defrost kicks in contact is cut from the evap fan and compressor - once defrost is finished the switch reverts back to normal operation and your evap fan & compressor turns on.

Most common causes of this issue is either a defrost timer fault or control board (burnt resistor or bad board).

Inspecting and changing the control board will usually fix the issue - if your evap fan comes on after changing the board but not the compressor then you have a bad compressor.

If you have one of those units like some whirlpool/Kenmore/Inglis that have electronic controls in the refrigerator section, this is the board that controls the thermostat and compressor on/off cycling. The board behind your freezer is also connected to the board in your fridge, this one controls the defrost.

Just stopped cooling refrigerator and freezer model number 79571092111

Impossible for all fans to be working, compressor ok, freon levels fine, and no cooling. Of course, if your compressor is no longer compressing, then that would account for your problem - you could also confirm this by checking current draw. With the compressor doing nothing but spinning current draw should be next to nothing.

If ice in back of freezer self defrost mechanism is not working.

Whirlppol Side by Side no longer cooling well.

I'd suspect a failed thermostat in the fridge compartment, a split and sagging door seal, or a fault on the microprocessor control if it has one of those.

Why does the A/C belt jump off 2000 Monterro sport

You are right on to keep an eye on this...the bearings in the compressor or water pump can come and go at first...throwing the belt is usually the first symptom...your adjustment may have fixed a stretched belt. Hope this helps.

Mystery message "wait" appears above "following schedule" display line on our Th8000. Ac does not come on even when temperature is in range. Fan operates ok. Is "wait" setting one I can reset? Maybe a compressor issue rather than thermostat? Thanks

KitchenAid ksra25fk not cooling. defrost fan in freezer continues to run. compressor not coming on at all. appears defrost timer not opening. is the timer part of the circuit board in this model?

Good day,
The fan motor in the freezer, is called an evaporator fan motor and circulates air when the thermostat calls for cooling.

It is wired to to the same circuit as the compressor. I.E. they run at the same time.

If the compressor is not running, you can remove the control box on the side of the compressor that holds the components that start the compressor. They include, a start relay, capacitor, and protective overload.
These items can be checked at most appliance parts houses.
If they check good, the problem is with the compressor itself.

Note: If this machine is under 5 years of age, the compressor is under factory warranty.

Refrigerator not cooling very well, upper freezer appears tobe ok

HI,

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

thanks,

Hi my skybox stop cooling

The SkyBox operates with two individual systems. The dispenser assembly, the LED indicators and the circulating fan operate on a low voltage circuit. The circulating fan runs anytime the SkyBox is plugged in.

The cooling system operates on 120vac. The cold control inside the beverage compartment is an on demand switch that sends 120vac to the compressor when cooling is needed. There are no parts available for the compressor, so if it determined that power is reaching the compressor, the windings are ok, a 3 in1 hard start kit (Supco URCO210) can be installed by a qualified service technician.

Ground fault interrupt (GFI)

I have a Whirlpool Model AD$)DSR1 Dehumidifier, with similar issues. When plugged in where it was operating for three years with no problems, it would trip the gfci within 10 minutes. I have it out in the garage right now with all the covers off, and I've had it running on a heavy duty outlet for about a half hour now. The compressor is too hot to touch (ouch!), and the condenser coils are only cool, when they should be quite cold. I am ready to judge that one of two things has happened: Either the compressor is bad, or the refrigerant has leaked out of the system.
