VideoHead of Digital Sony DCR-TRV265E Digital 8 camcorder Pal

I think the videohead on my TRV265E needs replacing. The image has broken down into horizontal bands. I have tried cleaning with the Sony head cleaner which worked seem to work but thereafter, the image broke up again and now there is no image whatsoever on the screen.

Where can I take this for servicing and approximately how much will this cost? The camera is three years old.

I'd appreciate this information.
With thanks....in anticipation

Hi, I recently had a problem with my sony DCR TRV255E digital 8. The screen was black no picture at all but everything else seemed to be working ok on the camera.

I think that like me you have a CCD chip error. Sony knows this fault exists and will repair your camera for free. Take a look at this website and see if you think this is the problem you have.

Hope this helps!

Respected Sir, I have sony dcr-trv265e PAL digital camcorder. I am connecting this cam to my windows7 but it does not detect. I checkup the windows site they says there is no need to driver as it will...

I am having the same problem and the answer I believe is that windows 7 does not support the original Picture Package software which came with the camera. Sony offers an alternative software upgrade called PMB howeverit does not support USB and you need to have a firewire cable to transfer images from camera to computer. I unfortunately do not have a firewire port on my laptop so now I am trying to find out if there is a usb driver available.

Lines through lcd screen

I also got the same problem. i think the tape is dirty or spoil and you better save the video into your CD or DVD or else it will be gone forever.

Blank screen during playback

your camcorder video head is dirty, use a brand new tape and playback for around 5 minutes or more, this will serve as your video head cleaner. you may try at least five times doing this: insert, play, eject, play, eject again. your camcorder has a built in videohead cleaner and activates only during insert, play or rec, and eject mode. If the problem is still there, manual videohead cleaning is needed, use clean bond paper and lighter fluid, damp the bond paper (Size about 1" by 3") with fluid and rub with care the videohead (not the bond paper! The vhead should be the one turning not the paper)by slowly turning the videohead against the paper. Be careful cause this is dangerous that you might brake the videohead permanently. apply only a slight force to the head.
