If you are referring to the tube that houses the oil dipstick it should be held in place with a small cap screw / bolt if you remove the tube you will find there is a rubber o ring remove the old and replace with a new one while you have it a part inspect the tube and make sure it is not cracked or broken befroe you install the new oring, if it is cracked or broken it will need to be replaced

Oil pipe from the turbo going down to sump is leaking.how do i get at.

You have not said what vehicle this is for. Most oil drain pipes leak from the flexible joiner near the sump. Best to look under the vehicle to see how you can get access to the clamps that hold this tube on and tighten them.

Oil leak on deck of Lawn Mower

Because you mentioned the smoke and hard to start it could be that the engine is flooding or overfilled. Check for fuel in the crankcase. Be sure cranckcase is not overfilled. An engine with too much oil will force excess oil out somewhere. If the mower has been turned on its side lately it could have put oil in places that it should not be and its trying to burn off this oil. Be sure your air filter is not saturated with oil or fuel.
If all that checks out we will look for oil leaks.
As far as oil leaks go the three most likely places for your engine to leak are from the head gasket, dipstick tube seal, or the sump gasket.
Check for proper torque on the head bolts ( 125 inch pounds). Headbolts can come loose over time. After that check that the seal at the bottom of the dipstick tube is in good shape and a tight fit. This seal usually leaks when the engine is running because at rest the oil level is just below this seal. Lastly, if everything else checks out then the sump gasket is leaking. To replace the sump gasket drain oil from motor and remove air filter. remove blade and self propel belt. remove engine stop cable. remove the three motor mount bolts from under deck and remove motor. place on work bench upside down. some fuel may run out carb or tank cap. remove sump bolts from bottom of motor and remove sump. Do not remove governor gear or cam gear from cranckcase. At this time it will be obvious where the gasket has failed. Remove old gasket. It may need to be scraped off. Take care to keep material from going into crankcase and clean out any that does fall in. install new gasket and torque sump to proper specs and reassemble.

Check sump pressure? can you tell me what that means

Sump pressure is the back pressure created within the oil sump by pressure leaking past the piston rings. The pressure is usually very low due to the venting of the sump thru the oil sump vent (usually a tube or removable plug used for adding oil). If the vent was replaced with a plug, then pressure will be very high and cause oil leak. Higher sump pressure is also caused by adding too much oil into crank-case. If you are having other problems with compressor, post again. Good luck.

My oil in my 87 f250 460 when i pulled oil stick up it drained the oil

That is because you have a tube that your dip stick goes into, on the F trucks this tube goes into the sump, on sedans this tube goes into the block higher up, you need to replace the tube taking great care that the O ring goes in correctly or you will still have the oil leak, they are normally bolted in

Engine started leaking oil near the back of the engine and collects on deak

Hi, You need to clean the engine thoroughly with some Purple Power or Fantastic and a garden hose. Then run the engine for a short time and locate exactly where the oil is coming from on the engine. One place to pay close attention to is directly under the cylinder where the crankcase mates with the oil sump. Some engines have gaskets fail directly under the cylinder because A; there are no bolts securing the oil sump to the crankcase in that location and B; it is an area of very high heat. I am assuming this is a push mower and does not have overhead valves? If it does have OHV, keep an eye around the bottom of the valve cover. Lastly, the crankcase breather cover gasket or the rubber tube the goes from the breather to the air filter housing may have come off or it may be cracked. But first things first, you must get the engine clean to determine where the oil is coming from. After establishing the location of the leak, post back with the info and I will provide direction to make the repair.Kevin,

Oil leaking from breather tube on my 1991 harley davison heritage soft tail on first start after four year storage

The engine "sumped", meaning the oil in the oil tank leaked past the check ball in the oil pump and is now in the bottom of the crankcase. Place a pan under the breather tube and run the bike until no more oil comes from the breather. keep an eye on the level in the oil tank. You don't want to run it dry. If you added oil, chances are the dipstick will fly out due to too much oil pressure. When you're done, either change the oil and filter, or add oil to the tank.

The left front fork of my 1200 Sportster is leaking oil. How can I fix this?

That depends on where it's leaking. If it's leaking down at the axle, You can lift the bike off the ground, remove the front wheel. There's a bolt in the very bottom of the tube. Take the bolt out and slide the "slider" off the upper tube. While you have it off, replace the seal at the top of the "slider". This will fix any leak at the top of the slider. Clean the lower slider with clean mineral spirits and allow it to dry. Then, put a little bit of oil on the seal and a dab of clear RTV in the area where the copper washer goes and slide the slider back up on the tube. Put the bolt in and tighten it up. Replace the front wheel. Now, add the appropiate amount of fork oil for a "dry" refill. If you call the dealer, they should tell you how much oil goes in there. My manuals are not up to date for your model. Mine only shows for 1994 and Harley may have changed the fork tubes since then. Remember the higher viscosity of the oil, the stiffer the front suspension. The dealer will also tell you what oil came in the front forks from the factory.

Good Luck

Might have transmission fluid leak????

its fairly easy to be honest.you only need the tool to check transmision temp.it should be checked at a temp of 40 degrees c.so i reckon 10-15 mins from cold on idle(dont drive it ) should be about right.then remove the plug in the sump.this exposes a tube that goes in to the sump that is the right length so that only excess oil will drain out.Bassicaly the tube allows the sump to drain until the correct ammount of oil is in there.if you need to top up there is a short tube with a red cover over the top of it.remove this and top up until oil drains out the sump from the hole where the sump plug goes.go here for a picture that explains all.......

Oil leak in punto

The punto's suffer from porous sumps. The metal becomes thin and leaks oil. Although its not a difficult job to change, its a messy job. You have to draain all the oil out first, then remove all the bolts around the sump pan. If you are replacing the sump, its good practice to replace the gasket too.
The sump itself is not too expensive to purchase, and the job itself in a garage, shouldnt take any more than 2 hours.
