Question about Maytag Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Performa Maytag dryer and the hot air stopped working. When we pulled it out to troubleshoot, we found a lot of lint and a bird (dead). Didn't seem like he'd been there long, but after thouroughly cleaning it out and replacing the duct for hygenic purposes, we still can't get it to it possible theres a pilot light and if so, where can we find it? thanks! Check the glow bar ignitor at the gas valve,is it working. If not, replace the glow bar ignitor. If the glow bar ignitor is working, replace the gas valve coils.

Maytag Performa dryer blows fuse after clothes get hot. I cleaned a large buildup of lint from inside the dryer all the way to my roof. I then replaced the hi limit thermostat, thermal fuse and dryer...

their are two possiblities causing that

1) while cleaning the lint from the motor a wire accidently got pulled of of the motor switch

2) to me the buzzing when start button is pushed and may or may not start, the motor is bad

When trying the trick to start the motor by hand the door switch also must be pressed in

Dryer gets hot, but stays damp inside and clothes don't dry. I removed a birds nest from the outer end of the vent, and there is plenty of hot steamy air coming through, but still having this problem....

The vent is probably still stopped up. You are going to have to pull the dryer out and disconnect the 4" vent hose from the back and inspect the vent all the way through.

Maytag performa gas dryer appliance gets hot but have to cycle clothes 2 times to get dry, have vacuumed out lint trap and exit vent any ideas thanks.

Hi, it sounds like you have covered most bases. One other thing I would check is total airflow. Outside, where the dryer exhaust leaves the building it should be unobstructed, If there is a flap or louvers they should open freely. You should be able to feel the warm air when you put your hand at the vent. If aiflow is good, the thermostat may be defective.

Maytag washer squeaks when spin cycle stops

We have a Maytag Performa G3300 that we bought on 8/13/2001. It still works great, but on 2/25/10 it stopped heating. We found that by removing the front panel and vacuuming the accumulated lint on the inside of the dryer and the door, the problem was resolved. There were no parts to replace, just vacuuming.

My maytag performa dryer stopped working. The

If a dryer is not working at all that's not good! But it doesn't mean you need to go appliance shopping just yet. It may be something very simple like a bad door switch or even a broken door switch actuator, in a kenmore dryer there is a tab thats sticks out of a hole in the wall that allows the dryer to run only if the door is shut, other models may have button that protrudes out of the dryer and when the door is shut, this allows the dryer to run. These switches go out from time to time, also if a dryer is full of lint build-up over time this will cause the dryer high limit or fuse to blow. The fuse is located near where the blower is in most cases. When the air in the dryer gets way too hot the fuse/hi-limit will blow and the house wont burn down.

My dryer gets very hot and shuts off

Your hot air discharge piping is probably stopped up with lint. Take all the piping off and check everything, straights, elbows, even the discharge grill outside your home. It's a little more work but I would take the rear panel off the cabinet and take a vacuum cleaner and clean all around. Make sure you remove the power. If it persists after a good cleaning, it could be a bad limit switch (thermostat) or an operating switch (thermostat). These are round switches with metal (wings) for screws that have two wires. Look on the diagram on the back panel on most machines. GOOD LUCK.
