The best way to get at it is through removal of the front screen. Start by removing the front speaker grill-should just pull off (snap fitted). Then remove the front control panel (4screws). Next remove 4 screws from bottom of front of screen- the screen should ten just pull off -also snap fit- Make sure the set is unplugged before you begin- Once the screen is off you can also clean the lenses and the mirror (if glass) use a soft damp cloth.

51" Philips Projection Wide Screen. Want to know

Almost all the Philips projection sets have a large black plastic shroud on the top half of the back of the set----it can be removed--most of these sets use torks type screws (star shaped).

With the upper part on the back removed you will find the mirror is suspended---do not try to clean it--it is film like handy wrap and will not need cleaning.

I use a swiffer type duster to reach inside the set to remove any spider webs etc, If dead insects or dirt inside the screen use a very soft cloth with water (just dampen the cloth slightly)

Usually you are seeing spider or cob webs and the duster will get them all--DO NOT APPLY FORCE IF YOU WIPE THE INSIDE OF THE SCREEN AS IT IS EASY TO SCRATCH IT!

If this information helped you, rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Cleaning webs from inside screen

There are two ways to do this---the hard way which is to remove the entire front screen OR

What I do is (with the set unplugged) remove the back cover of the set; you should see the three large black lens.

Most of these sets there will be enough room to get a swiffer duster up inside to gently catch and remove all the spider webs. If there is not enough room let me know and I will tell you how to remove the front screen.

Also---if you can see those large black lens---clean the dust off of them with a lens cloth or paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

If you can reach the webs from the back do not exert pressure when you wipe the inside of the screens---easy to scratch them.

If you have questions let me know BEFORE you attempt this.

If this helped or told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

How do i clean the inside of my 57" projection tv . this is an hitachi flat screen, i have spider webs inside

without knowing the model number; some you can remove the rear cover and gain access with a swiffer type duster and clean the webs out(also clean the lens at the same time) Others: the only easy way is to remove the screen--not real easy if you have never done it before---most outside service techs will be happy to come to your home and clean the webs out; also clean the lens and the mirror.

How do I dust inside the screen of a Rear projection TV?

Unplug tv first Usually you can pop the front screen off the set. There may be two hidden catches depending on the model. You may want to use two people for this. Once the screen is off removed the spider web and clean the back mirror with some windex, don't clean the inside of screen with any cleaner. Replace carefully the screen making sure it clicks back correctly

Hitachi 51UWX20B spider web like lines help

I know my response is a while after you asked, but to clean the inside of the tv case is pretty simple.

Remove the bottom speaker cover...on this model you just pull it off. There is no clips or screws.

Once the speaker cover is off you will see the bottom of the screen, there is 4-5 screws on the bottom on each side....I think 4 in the gray plastic and 1 in a black metal strap. With all of those screws out pull out SLIGHTLY on the screen and push up. The top is held in with a down force clamp and you are just popping it out of that....It will pop back in once you are done.

Now clean the back side of the screen, the mirror and CAREFULLY dust off the lenses. I myself did not want to use any cleaners (to avoid streaking) so I used a new microfiber dusting cloth. My picture became brighter and the "crack" that I thought I had was just a dust web....

Hope this helps and good luck

Spiderwebs under Screen, how do i clean it ?

Yes, I have seen this many times. Usually the best way is to remove the upper back cover and clean out the spider webs with a soft, dry cloth, but be careful because the mirror is mounted to the inside of the cover.

Trying To Remove Screen

I have a panasonic 53 inch and have had the same problem on numerous occasions. I removed the backing of the television, stuck my vaccuum cleaner hose inside the tv and sucked out the spider and the web.
