Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

My liftmaster formula one has one sensor light green and the other yellow. no amount of realignment helps this. the garage door will bounce back up when it hits the bottom and won't stay shut. have tried unplugging to reset unit but that does not work.

One photo eye should be yellow and the other one green. The problem seems to be your down limit to be set too far. When you stand facing the door behind the operator the limit adjustments should be on the left hand side under the light cover. The down limit is the one closest to the door.

Why will my garage door not go down?

Safety sensors! The two sensors on either side of the track of your door. There should be a solid light illuminated on both.Blinking, flickering or absence of light indicates either misalignment, faulty wiring, failing sensors, or interference from the sun. Usually its the first one. You can bend them to realign. If they are not functioning at all, check the wiring connections. If all else fails, replacement of the sensors is necessary.

We have a 1/2 hp garage door opener and it is blinking 4 times. it will shut with continuous pressure on the button but not with a single press. the sensors are different, one has a continuous yellow light...

The most common reason for the green sensor to flash is because they are not pointed directly at one another.

  1. Check each sensor for a steady glowing indicator light. If both indicator lights are on, or if one indicator light is flickering, the sensors may be slightly misaligned. To check for misalignment; obstruct the beam of the sensors so that they cannot see each other. When the beam is blocked, the indicator light on one of the two sensors will temporarily go out. This is the receiving sensor. Remove the obstruction and loosen the wing nut on the back of the receiving sensor. Adjust the receiving sensor until the green indicator light goes out, if not already out, then realign until the green light is bright and steady, then retighten the wing nut. This usually takes a couple of attempts before it is back in alignment.

Liftmaster formula 1 garage door opener keeps "bouncing" open

If the door reverses when it hits the floor it is traveling too far. Locate the 'down limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will most likely be necessary. You can always recognize a sensor problem because the main light will flash 10 times. If the main light isn't flashing it isn't a sensor problem.

it has to be aligned with its mating optical sensor on the other side of the door. try adjusting it until you get a green light.

One of my garage door sensors is yellow while the other is green.

It means your sensors are properly aligned. Are you having a problem?

I have a liftmaster door opener and one of the saftey sensors always has a yellow light instead of green.

That is correct and not a problem.  One light should be yellow which means power and one light should be green which means the lights are lined up.
