Question about Yamaha Rx-v565 Receiver

My Yamaha receiver model rx-v565 audio is putting out choppy sounds when cable is playing. I am using all HDMI connections. My TV is an LG 240 Hertz model and using the comcast HDMI box.

Do not run HDMI to your receiver. Run Digital Coaxial or Optical from cable box to your 565. The problem is on many levels. Hardware, Software, Audio Codecs, etc. your receiver is HDMI version 1.1. The current version is 1.3b. You can thank the recording industry for copyright protection for this issue. To have your receiver updated would be Very expensive and not worth it. If you want a blow by blow explanation of all HDMI's issues, Google HDMI forums or problems, and you can read for hours. Hope this helps.

Hi there,

I have a Yamaha RX-V565, a Panasonic DMR-BS785, a WD TV LIVE HUB and a Panasonic TX-P50GW20. WD, DMR connected thru HDMI to AV Rec (connected to TV thru HDMI). Until yesterday everything worked fine. All DSP programmes worked. But since today the AV front panel says DECODER OFF when switching to whatever input source (displaying PCM or DOLBY DIGITAL - depending on setting on DMR - shortly thereafter). All DSP programmes work but somehow "cushioned".

Any help much appreviated.

Is the Yamaha RX-V596 capable of using HDMI in

Nope. Use S-Video or composite video In and digital audio in from the Cable Box, S- or composite-video out to the TV/Monitor.

OR (what I do) skip the receiver as a video middleman and take the HDMI video right to the TV; and run the Cable Box digital audio to the Receiver.

Every time I turn my Yamaha RX-V565 on it switches to the AV1 input instead of staying on the HDMI input that it was on when I turned it off.

Set your TV, Sattellite receiver and audio where you want it when you turn on the set. Then hit the Scene button named "TV" and hold it down till the yamaha receiver says set complete and it will turn on to HDMI 2

I have the LG Dn798 hooked up through my Yamaha receiver

Does it work via component or in a different HDMI port? If it does it sounds like either a bad HDMI input on the tv or a bad HDMI output on the receiver.

I would also verify that the receiver is 100% compliant with the HDMI standard as not all devices are.

The Yamaha RX-V463 AV does not playsound from the blue ray player

"I am also having difficulties in try to display the yamaha set up menu on the tv."
According to the manual the display menu for TV will not work with HDMI hook up.
I also have a Panasonic HD TV and can't get TV sound through my Yamaha AVR on "TV Sound" mode.  Trying to use HDMI cable for this also.  Do I need a digital optical cable or do I not have something set right?

this sounds strange, but is true. you need to run your digital audio optical cable from your tv to your receiver (after, of course, connecting tv/receiver via hdmi). so, hdmi from blue ray to rec - hdmi from rec to tv - then optical from tv back to rec. it's round about, but that is how yamaha says (and the only way it works) to do it.

No sound when using Panny plasma with RX-V3800

Let me see if I understand. You have one HDMI cable linking your TV and AVR? This is only to send video and sound out to your TV from the AVR you will not be able to send sound back over this same cable. You'll have to use the TVs audio out and connect it to an input of the AVR. The "HDMI out" on the AVR is just that Out and not In. For more questions I'd recommend checking out the RX-V3800 RX-V1800 thread over on AVSforum.com
