Question about Goodman CLQ36AR49 Air Conditioner

The air conditioning unit outside is running but there is no cold air coming into the house. I hear the inside unit turning off and on but no cold air. I also smell a burning odor. I have turned off the unit via the thermostat.

It is 105-110F outside and I think that I am only getting no more than 2 degrees of cooling from my central air conditioning unit. I have been changing my air filter about every two days, two months ago...

Two thoughts come immediately to mind. Your outdoor condensing unit may not be running at all or is extremely low on refrigerant due to a leak or you have flexible
ductwork and it has come apart under your home especially in the return area.

Also, if you feel the larger of the two lines to the outdoor unit and it is not "Beer can cold" then the compressor is most likely not running, just the fan which would give the appearance the unit is running.
This would most likely be a failed capacitor. (secure all power from
all sources to inside and outside unit and pull out the disconnect before attempting
replacement). Check for bulged cans or leaking cans and replace with exact same
microfarad/ voltage rating. You can get the caps from any HVAC store for around 20 dollars.

Our unit is making loud clicking noise and spraying water when in the cooling air condition mode, but not when the fan is on. What could be the problem, and is it fixable?

you may hear water splashing that is because it is coming off of the condenser the part that is outside the water runs off the condenser and is forced out by the fan for as the noise could be something in or on the inside fan blade or outside fan blade as long as the water is not coming inside your house and you have enough slope on the unit you should be ok

The air conditioning fan outside the house is showing frost on the coils, what is the problem

Are you using your Air conditioner as a Heat Pump (Making heat in the house)- or as an Air Conditioner (making COLD air in the house.)

If as a heat pump, then remember-- that the WARM coil is now inside the house-- and the COLD one is outside-- So, if it is COLD outside, there is not enough HEAT out there, to keep the coil from going below freezing-- The unit may have to be turned off, and allowed to defrost, if you want more heat from the Heat Pump-

Let me know if this helped

It is freezing inside, and it is not cooling properly

Welcome to FixYa,
Check the Following
Is your filter clean? Look and the evaporator in the inside unit. Is it frosted up? Do you have condensation water in the pan? Go to the outside unit and feel the air coming out of the fan. Is it warm? Now feel the 2 copper pipes coming out of the unit. Is the small one warm or hot? Is the larger one cool ? Is there moisture on it?
Air conditioner runs but doesn't cool at all
If the airflow is good and the air coming out is not cold, your home air conditioning problem may be a temporary problem - your coils may have frozen. Turn the unit off for an hour to let them thaw, then try again. If cold air is now present, freezing coils were the problem; if the problem recurs soon after turning on, you may need to replace the coils. Again, call a pro. If you have ceiling vents in upstairs rooms and the air flowing from them is consistently warm, you probably have leaky or poorly insulated ductwork in your attic. See my Attic ceiling insulation page for more information on insulating ductwork that runs through attics.
Another likely home air conditioning problem if you have good airflow but no cooling is that thebreaker to the outside unit is shut off, which, depending on the installation, can either cause the air conditioning system to not run at all, or to appear to be running but not provide any cooling. If you can hear the compressor fan running outside, the breaker is on, but if the outside unit is silent the outside breaker may be off. If switching it on does not solve the problem, look for the high pressure cut outon the condenser and try resetting that.

How do I know if compressor of my house air conditioner is turning on when I start my air conditioner? When I start my air conditioner the fan outside the house turns on, the air is blowing from the vents...

if the compressor is starting there will be a very small dimming in the house lights,if you go outside to the unit and start it from the outside disconnect when the compressor starts you will hear a whine type noise coming from the outside condenser unit that is the hermetic compressor motor operating,no cold air can be a number of issues, low on refrigerant(not likely on the new sealed systems) a bad motor start/run capacitor(quite likely) a bad contactor on the outside unit that supplies power to the compressor, one leg of the 240volts that supplies the compressor power, the fan will run on 120 volts, but the compressor needs 240 volts check the fuses.breaker in the power panel

House HVAC Not Blowing

If the outside unit is running and the inside unit is not, probably a problem with the fan motor itself or its capacitor. If you have to have someone repair or replace the fan $200-$250 with parts, a capacitor for a service call and part $100 or so. Check it yourself first to see if there is anything obvious broken wire, hot connection, etc if you feel safe doing that. Turn the power off first. There is also a chance the thermostat could be the problem. Have you tried running the fan on the thermostat "fan on" setting?

Goodman air conditioner will not turn on outside

When ever you hear a buzzing like you are hearing means one thing one of the fuses on the outside disconnect box is bad. Only getting 1/2 the power. Find the bad fuse and get the same size and will be good to go. ken

Air conditioning unit not cooling

the problem sounds like a defective capacitor its located on the condensing unit outside, also a contactor that is used can be defective also.

Ac problems

Hello from KOOLBREEZES, this is a simle problem and easy to fix. You have 2-lines going to / from your outside unit. a SMALL COPPER -line and a LARGE COPPER line with insulations. The fat line is suppose to have moisture on it wheres it,s not insulated which tells you you have enough refrigerant gas comming back to he compressor but if its dry you,re low on freon and need a charge or the outside condenser is dirty and not getting rid of enough heat!

Non-working outside unit

If your unit is blowing heat inside and it's not a heat pump. It will be most likely electric heat in your case.
Sounds like you have a split unit meaning the condenser is outside and the cooling and the heat features are inside or under your home.If your Rudd is a heat-pump the outside unit will cycle/blow cold air outside in winter and hot air will cycle/blow outside during the summer season. Now, if for some reason the heat  is not coming on inside the house, would be the only reason that you would need to be concerned. Being a heat relay or breaker of could cause that problem. Hope this helps you, Sea Breeze
