Question about LG MU-42PM12X 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Red and blue verticle lines on screen. Heard that the video control board was defective and would solve the problem, but my tv has started flashing with purple intermittent sparklies, making the resolution poor.

There is a big black verticle line on the screen

vertical lines in general are caused by the data boards (buttom of screen) theres a left one and right one these boards are atached by ribbon cables going to the logic board .first all ribbon cables must be checked and reconnected to make sure there well seated ,also pass compressed air ( can ) , if this dose not solve problem try slightlypressing on the connecters replace defective board , on many lg tvs the connecter on the logic board is defective slightly pressing solves problem ,if this does not work you have two choices the data board thats on the same side of the line is defective you may try to clean the brown flex connecters that plug to the data board these connecters are not easy to reconnect be delicat and patient !!!if data board does not solve replace logic board !

Sony 65 inch screen tv

The lines you saw, i;m sure they are the ones called retrace lines but know the failure could be located on the red CRT board. Most likely the video amplifier is defective and not necessarily the CRT.
What is the model number of your TV?

Check within you area for a reliable LG repair center. To fix the problem of the blue, red or green vertical line you just need to replace the control board PN 6871QCH038C. The part cost about $150.00 and a honest repair center should not beat you up to bad on the labor. Good luck and Good viewing.
