Maybe there's a problem with the defrost timer or the defrost thermostat. When the coil is all cover with ice , check if there's continuity through the defrost terminator (little round metal thing attached to the coil), if yes ,the timer is bad.

Maytag side by side msd264rheb freezer works frig isn't cold. We found ice on bottom freezer side and did melt it with a hair dryer. Frig vent is letting in, now a little cool air, but not a lot.

If you found ice in the freezer then there is usually a lot more behind the back plate. If you let it defrost completely it should work good for a couple days until the ice builds up again. you more than likely have a deefrost issue. There are usually nthree components in a typical defrost circiut. The heater, defrost thermostat and a defrost timer or control. one or those is bad.

When air cont is on it blows heat

It might be the vacuum motor on the blender door letting air pass thru the heater core instead of sending it thru the evaporator.
A simple vacuum line falling off or breaking at the heater can cause this,OR a bad vacuum motor.

Coil freeze up

If the fan works , probably the unit is low on refrigerant, which means there is a leak that has to be fixed and then recharge the unit .Also could be the defrost system (heaters ,terminator or deefrost timer ).

Hi, The deefrost drain hole inside the freezer is plugged. Remove the rear panel inside the freezer and remove the ice plugging the drain. Make sure to flush the drain hole with hot water making sure it drains.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Freezer will not auto defrost , coils icebound

The problem is in the defrost timer , heaters or the defrost terminator ,most of the cases is in the timer you can turn it until the compresor off and if the coil is frozen the heaters will came on if this happend the timer is bad but if the freezer coil is frozen and after you turn the timer to the point that the compresor goes off and the heaters won't kick on it means that the heaters are bad or the defrost terminator fail .YOU can check the heaters for continuity and replace the one thats open or you can buy the deefrost kit which came with the heaters and the deefrost terminator.

Either the defrost heater (in the coil) dont work or the deefrost termostat(round thing with two wires atached to the coil) or the timer (black thing with a plug with 4 o 5 wires),it could be at the botoom front of the refrigerator, pulling the grill,or inside the fridge in thecold control box.
