Question about Dell Inspiron 8000 Notebook

1 Answer

I have an dell inspiron 8000 with xp pro sp2, my wireless "g" pcmcia card suddenly stopped working. Under device manager showed a yellow question mark for the ethernet controller, and saying no device drivers installed(code 28). I re-installed xp, downloaded and installed the drivers from Dell's site, let windows search but same results. If i use a pcmcia ethernet controller card will that allow me use also use my pcmcia wirless card? i have 2 pcmcia ports, or can i simply use a usb wireless adapter? i have two 1.1 speed ports.

Boot in f8 then select last known good configuration. if this fails do system restore to the time when it was still working fine.

Dell Inspiron 6000 won't connet wireless network after reinstall

check DEVICE MANAGER if the wireless card have the right driver installed. if you found that the wireless card have yellow exclamation point on the right it means, you installed a wrong driver.

check also in BIOS if the wireless card is enable and the switch is turn on.

press Fn+F2 to enable wireless radio/anthena (funtion key with wireless icon in blue color)

some dell laptop have hard switch located right side check this and turn the switch on.

if you want to see the icon n task bar, go to control panel....network connection...right click on wireless adapter...select properties...check Show on taskbar

Wireless enable problem

Check under Device Manager first. That's under Network Adapters. If you see a thing called Network Controller under Other devices, the driver for your wireless card has not been installed. Simply reinstall it by right-click > Update Driver. But if you see your wireless card there with yellow caution sign, the driver needs to be reinstalled. With red X, that mean its disabled, right-click it and Enable. If no wireless card under device manager, your built-in wireless card is busted, you need to buy a separate notebook adapter. Good Luck!

Internal and wireless NIC missing from device manager

Yes try this, go into device manager, start, control panel, system, hardwar, device manager
and uninstall the card, reboot, it should tell you it found new hardware and if you have the proper software installed, it will say it is installing the software for your device, try this first as it will reinstall it as long as the software is there, or you can at that point install from disk,

LAN CARD ADAPTOR IS MISSING AFTER FORMATING TO XP PRO

Not sure I understand you what you mean. Let me recap:
1) Your LAN adaptor was working before you reloaded Windows XP Pro.
2) Now it’s not showing up in “Device Manager”.
If this is the case, there must be some software driver missing. Make sure there are no other devices that have an error. Double check Dell’s website at www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.

Pcmcia slot seems to not work

Right click on My Computer (it's on the Start Menu), and select "Properties". Click on the "Hardware" tab, and then the "Device Manager" button. The PCMCIA bridge should be listed, with a circle with slash through it, just right click on it, and select "Enable".

Pcmcia card not working pc not picking it up urgent help

Have you tried looking in your device manager to see if all is ok in there. If your PCMCIA port isn't working maybe it can be fixed from the device manager. Could just need the driver updated. I hope this problem works out asap for you.
