Straighten out a paper clip , and wrap 1 end about 5 tight turns , around the metal cut-off arm . The turns have to be close , so that the clip will not go sideways when dropping down on the ice cubes . This clip will raise the arm higher into the off position , so the ice maker will cut off with less cubes .

Hi, I have a Kitchenaid side-by-side refrigerator, and the ice maker has significant ice buildup in the chute. It's still making ice, but the buildup is pretty bad. Any idea how to fix this?

Hi Caiello,
I believe this is an overflow problem from the ice maker itself. Turn off the ice maker (this is done by raising the arm on the side of the unit), let it finish the cycle and dump into the bin. Let the ice maker stand for a day or so, then you may be able to remove the buildup. Restart the ice maker, and see if there is excess water coming from the unit. If it continues to overflow, there may be a problem with the unit itself
Hope this is of assistance,
Joe

Bx 21 refrig with ice maker in lower freezer floods over when it fill the ice tray is it the water valve or the ice maker bad

The valve could be bad if the water continues to run and overflow or if the valve is slow to close allowing it to overflow. If it just fills and cuts off quickly then the ice maker may be the problem. On some ice maker you can take off the plastic end cover and look for the + -. Turning it towards the - is less water. -

Ice maker over flows with water

There is an orifice that controls the water flow to the ice maker . If to much water is being fed to the ice maker it will result in an overflow. You may want to check the pressure of the water system in your house.

If the overflow is being caused by a continuous feed to the ice maker your electric valve supplying the water may not be reseating after it shut off electrically. If this is your problem obtain a new valve assembly to replace it.

Ice maker overflows with water

yes, in fact the icemaker does meter the amount of water delivered to the icemaker, the valve should only be energized for 7 seconds. after that the power is cut off, so if valve continues to let water flow, it's bad (might have debris from water line keeping it open. unserviceable. )

Frigidare FRS23KF6CB manufactured 03/07 ice maker water fill wont shut off

There is a float in the icemaker which controls water height. I'm going to bet the float is jammed or the switch it controls is bad.

Ice maker won't stop making ice

OK, there's two possible issues but you have to figure out what is happening. Does the ice maker continue to make ice forever and would fill up the whole freezer section in time OR does the ice maker just "over make" ice that overfills the bin which then falls out? If the ice maker just keeps making ice you need the motor module replaced but if it can be turned off by moving the lever up then you need the "modified lever assy." that is on our service bulletins.
