I have been trying to locate parts from O'conner (vitec)on these tripods. They have been somewhat helpful with other parts There West Coast distributor and parts staff are very good.

    VITEC : 818.847.8666 Dave x501 Geniene x 500

The plastic parts are obsolete. They tell me you may be able to buy parts from a vendor in California, USA.

    Here's the info.:

    Transylvania Film 818.295.6972

The prices seem to be overpriced from when I bought a bunch of these parts about 2 years ago.

Is there a Carbon fibre small compact with splitter

Carolyn
-If you are looking for a compact light weight (CF) tripod for video...., that is going to be...., stable & durable (for use with a smaller video camera or a DSLR) & with a mid-level spreader...., I have some bad news for you. They do not exist!!!!!
-You can get a number of tripods that meet some of these requirements..., but not all!!!
-No fear....., it is still possible to get a tripod that is small, light, repairable and with a higher weight capacity and better durability than either of the Manfrotto tripods you mentioned..., but they will not use a mid-level spreader!!!

-Questions for you...., the manfrotto #055CXB has a column that terminates with a flat plate & a 3/8-16" thread. The Manfrotto # MTV502AM tripod has a 75mm bowl mount. Do you use a video head with a flat base or with a 'bowl'?
-If your head has a flat base consider looking at CF tripods from brands such as Sirui (#N2204 or #N3204)..., great value tripod from China..., or products from Gitzo or Really Right Stuff...., (superior products...., and your grandkids will be using them..., but pricey)!!!!
-If your head uses a 75mm bowl mount get the Miller #1501 tripod...., stupidly strong and well supported.

-Bottom line..., with light to mid weight cameras, if you go with a good quality spreaderless tripod that uses 'rotary locks' vs 'quick release' locks...., the leg mechanisms are so superior that you will find that you will get less flex than most tripods with spreaders. They will also be smaller, lighter and allow you to shoot far closer to the ground!!!

Go t a shop that has a good selection of quality tripods and test for leg twist..., you will be converted!!! (note: to test this leg flex..., extend the legs & grab hold of (2) of the tubes near the top 'crown' and then try to move the legs to the left then right...., many will exibit significant flex at the joints!!!!

I have a EZ Grow broadcast spreader model 545 that needs a frame leg part number 545-12. The leg broke. I have not tried anything to fix it. Where can I get a new frame leg? I live in Barberton Ohio

I am sorry for the problems you are experiencing with your EZ Spreader. Unfortunately, due to the age of the spreader, we no longer have replacement parts available. Please give Scotts a call at 800-543-8873 so we can help pick out a new spreader for you. Hilary @ Scotts

I borrowed an older craftsman walk behind lawn spreader from my neighbor to apply Ace 5M crabgrass preventer. There is no model number on the spreader. It has settings from 2 to 16. What do these settings...

Well, they represent the size of the opening through which the product falls before hitting the spinning spreader part. A larger opening allows more product though; a smaller opening allows less.

I don't know if these are standardized across makes (I don't think they are). The best thing you could do would be to look in the hardware section next time you're in town and set a display model to the setting called for by your product (Scotts always lists the settings for their spreaders on their product), and then eyeball the size opening you get, then approximate that on your machine when you return home.

Or you can just pick the middle setting and do a test run and see if you think more or less should be applied, then adjust accordingly.

Spreaders Guidelines

It is always a good idea to calibrate your own spreader, even if the manufacturer provides guidelines for setting the spreader with different products. It's easy to calibrate and, if you make a note of your results, you only have to do it once for each product.

Drop and Broadcast Spreaders comparison

There are two common types of lawn spreader: drop or broadcast. The drop spreader is a familiar sight at garden centers and hardware stores. If you are a homeowner with less than 5,000 sq.ft. of lawn area, an inexpensive drop spreader may be all you need. Drop spreaders tend to be more manueverable in tight, awkward spaces and are relatively easy to use. Broadcast spreaders throw the material out in a wider swath, sometimes as wide as 8'. If you have a large area to cover, they can make short work of it. They are, however, a little trickier to use, since you need to keep up a steady walking speed (usually 3 mph) and you need to be moving when you activate the spreader. It's also harder to get a clean edge, although some broadcast spreaders come with side deflectors, which let you get close to side-walks, beds and driveways without spreading material on these adjacent areas. There are also small, hand-held broadcast spreaders suitable for smaller areas.
