The infinite switch is faulty. You'll have to have it replaced (the switch) or replace it yourself. It's not really a serviceable item beyond replacing the switch. They are not expensive though...relative to the range cost. maybe $20-$50us. don't mix up the large burner switch with the small. the small is rated usually somewhere around 5.2-6.6amp. the large 8.9-11 amp.

does your model number start with a 970 or a 110 ?

those three digits identify who made the unit for sears. 970 being frigidaire and 110 being whirlpool.

most local or online parts suppliers will carry the switch you require.

good luck

SOURCE: element light is on but no heat from the burners

You only have voltage coming in on one leg of the 240 line. Either the terminal block connectors are loose or burned or you need to check the circuit breaker in the house and reset it. It is also possible that one of the wires burned off in the back of the unit between the terminal block and the clock.

SOURCE: Problem w/burners & lights after self clean

You may want to re-seat the right two cooking elements, in case there is poor electrical contact. When you have them removed, clean the contacts with denatured 91% alcohol and a Q-tip. The removal procedure follows.
First, unplug the range.
LIFT–UP PORCELAIN COOKTOP
To lift:  When cool, grasp the cooktop front
edge.  Gently lift up until the two support rods
snap into place.
To lower:  Hold the cooktop front edge and
carefully push back on each support rod to
release.  Then lower the top into place.
COIL ELEMENTS
➢When an element is on, it will cycle on
and off to maintain the heat setting.
➢Coil elements are self-cleaning. Do not
immerse in water.
To remove:  When cool, raise element.  Carefully pull out and away from receptacle.
Check them for damage. They do wear out.
To replace:  Insert element terminals into receptacle.  Guide the element into place. Press down on the outer edge of element until it sits level on drip bowl.
COIL ELEMENT SURFACE
➢ On Canadian models, the two front elements will not operate during self-clean.To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire, never line drip bowls with aluminum foil.

If that does work, you may have a faulty control panel. In that case, call Maytag at the number below.

SOURCE: Bottom oven burner will not light

If your Kenmore is like most Whirlpool-built gas ranges, surface ignitors similar to those used in gas dryers are used. These devices have a conductive path fused to a ceramic substrate and are common failures. There are separate units for bake and broil burners.
Check the Sears website under the 'Parts' subsection and enter your range model number. This should bring up a choice of things to do and if you ask for the illustrated parts breakdown, you can see where the ignitor is located, get its part number, and generally order from that same site.
It's mildly disturbing that the range continues to allow gas to flow unignited.

Burners and oven on Hotpoint free standing electric stove won't heat at all.

Find someone with a good electrical meter and have them test the sockets to see if there is any electricity to the burners.
Also, check each burner and check for continuity through the burner itself.
These elements can all burn out, I've see it happen.
Be blesssed.

Top burners are working but oven will not turn on

This most likely will be a faulty oven element, followed by a burnt off wire at the oven element terminals. Check the element for any blow marks, holes etc. When you turn the oven switch on does the oven indicator light come on. If it does it generally means that the above will be the problem. If the indicator does not light has the oven got an electronic timer. The timer needs to the in the manual mode for the oven to work.

My GE upper oven (Model # J KP27G002BG) just stopped working. No power light when turned on. The door light works. The lower oven works. Any ideas?

The lower burner in the top oven does not work, although the broiler does work. The broiler and lower burner in the bottom over both work. Could it be the burner element or would it be the relay board ?

Oven won't light - electronic ignition oven

Hi, it could be your, electric heating element and oven burner gas valve. both are located in oven burner compartment, remove last bottom panel, locate oven burner, the valve that feed gas to burner, has two wires connected to it, that's oven valve could be faulty, also look on side oven burner, you will see electrical heating element, could also be faulty, it's better to replace both oven valve and element, that's the most common problem, but first check oven thermostat, that's knob you turn to light oven, if thermostat o/k, then it's your oven valve or heating element, (used to ignite oven burner) or call a mechanic, good luck.
