Retrieve avi file from canon powershot sx100

I took a 1.38gb video with my camera along with a shorter video and some pictures. I was able to copy everything but that one file. What do I do? I don't want to delete it.

How do I download video from camera to apple computer

The best way to download pictures and videos from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures and videos from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto for pictures and iMovie for videos.

Cannot download 1GB video file

If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Youcan copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off yourmemory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing anyprograms.

How do I delete the photos from my Canon PowerShot SX100 IS 10X Optical Zoom 8.0 Mega Pixels camera?

To delete individual images, press the trashcan button (below the cursor pad) while viewing the picture. To delete all images, follow the instructions in the "Erasing All images" section of the manual (page 153 in my copy). Better yet, format the memory card following the instructions in the "Formatting Memory Cards" section (page 59).

If you need a manual, you can download a copy at

I don't have software for my canon powershot SX100 IS digital camera. Kindly suggest how to transfer images from camera to computer?

Remove the memory card from the camera and put it in a card reader to read the contents on the PC. It's the best way to read the pictures.
If the pictures are in the internal memory of the camera, copy them first to the memory card. There should be an option in the menu that does this.

.thm video files

Here is some info from fileinfo.com :
Video thumbnails are often created on digital video cameras and digital cameras that record video; THM files may or may not be transferred to the computer depending on what software is used to import the video; each THM file shares the same filename as the video clip it represents, i.e. "clip001.avi" and clip001.thm."

Canon SD870 - Unable to copy AVI files to desktop

You need video editing software to copy .avi files to.
XP and Vista have that onboard.
Either direct the data to it or import the data from the individual program.
If that does not work, then you have a transfer problem between Camera and PC.
Try a card reader, that will prove it.

Problem copying videos

Think it is a file issue where the file you have copied to disk is not compatible with what your player can handle. Trick is to convert the file into one that your player can read. Plenty of freeware around for that - just Google it.

Hvae you tried taking the card out then looking on the camera for any stored images.

A lot of cameras will automatically use the storage card when it is inserted instead of the camera memory.

You maybe out of luck and lost all your pictures.
