Memory on the DV8000 model is accessed by door on the bottom of the case, it is marked by small rectangles. Usually one or two screws hold the panel in place, loosen the screws and pry the access dor open.

Some laptops have the memory modules installed beneath the keyboard, so that in order to get access to the memory modules/slots, you have to first remove the keyboard.

There are 2 screws marked "K" on the bottom of the notebook. So take those out. No problem pry the keyboard out of the notebook starting at the side closest to the screen. The keyboard will be a bit flexible Install memory under the keyboard. No Problem Re-install the keyboard... That was, and still is, a big problem. I can't for the life of me "gently" put the keyboard back.

If you need to ask "how", I recommend that you take the RAM and the notebook to a qualified technician, to get it done correctly & safely. Probably about $25 for "30-minutes" of the technician's labour.
Replacing parts on a laptop are generally expensive and difficult, your best option would be to send it to the manufacturer or bring it to a local computer repair shop and have them work on it. If it is no longer under warranty or protection coverage it is most likely time to look for a new laptop, unfortunately.
The ram is sited under the keyboard, to remove undo case screws on underneath of laptop. Then, where the keyboard bottom edge meets the laptop case yo will find 3 lugs... which can be pushed in. Lift off keyboard, then undo access panel on right side of laptop. There you will see the 2 memory slots.

Before you proceed, note that Dell Inspiron 2650 uses DDR200 3.3V SODIMM modules. Also, memory module capacities supported are 128MB and 256MB with a Maximum memory of 512MB. If the current memory installed is 128MB, you need to order 2x 256MB modules to replace/upgrade both memory slots. If the installed capacity is 256MB, you just need another 256MB for the slot underneath the laptop.

Hey, as far as my knowledge is concerned, the battery compartment is on the backside of laptop and there is a symbol on that compartment. you just need a screw driver to open two screws and reach the RAM compartment.

memory modules are under keyboard,you have to remove this first,1 hidden screw under(indicates a keyboard) and the 4 holds between the Fkeys(pull them down).Remove the keyboard and you''be able to see them....Chris/Greece
