First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

From there you may be able to get PDF files of manuals for your washer.

Since Whirlpool makes most of the Kenmore washers, see the whirlpool site that lists PDF's for many of their products.

Without a model number, it would be difficult to try to track down the wiring diagrams.

Kenmore dryer 110.66912690 .Does the motor shut off when the belt breaks? I know the drum can't turn, but the motor will not run. It just finished drying a load of clothes. Thanks

Yes it has a broken belt switch. This is a 4 wheel drive model. To replace the broken belt. The first thing to do is use your index finger to pop the shoulders off each end of the console. Place your finger on the top of the shoulder and pull towards you till it comes free from the control. This will expose the hold down screw on each end. Remove them next and flip up the console. 3 quarter inch hex heads screws must then be removed to get the top off. Once that is accomplished use a putty knife to release the base panel and remove it. Take care to see how the door switch wires go.remove the filter and filter chute. Remove the door springs then the yellow wire from the drum sensors. Remove the front panel, Remove the drum. Clean er up. My Video:

How to replace water pump on kenmore washer 70 secerise

If that is the older belt driven style you lay it over and remove a few bolts and hoses. It is not too difficult. The new style is even easier. the pump mounts with 2 clips on the motor.

  • Unplug the power cord of the Kenmore 70 series washer from the electrical outlet before attempting to replace the drive belt. Remove the end caps from the control console by pushing in on the center of the caps with your thumbs and pulling the caps forward.
  • 2 Unfasten the screws on the front of the control console with a screwdriver and set the screws aside. Flip the control console back so it is resting against the rear hinges.
  • 3 Locate the two-pronged electrical plug on the top of the washer near the back and unfasten it by pulling the plug straight up by hand. Remove the metal clips on the top of the washer, prying them up with a screwdriver and setting them out of the way.
  • 4 Lift the washer cabinet off the base and set it aside. Locate the motor at the base of the cabinet near the front and unhook the springs from the motor carriage with a pair of pliers.
  • 5 Unbolt the motor from the motor carriage, using a socket wrench to unfasten the bolts. Unplug the electrical wiring harness from the motor by hand.
  • 6 Lift the motor off the motor carriage and take the drive belt off the motor and transmission pulleys, discarding the belt. Place the new drive belt around the transmission and motor pulleys.
  • 7 Plug the electrical wiring harness into the motor by hand and secure the motor to the motor carriage with the bolts. Attach the springs to the motor carriage by hand.
  • 8 Place the washer cabinet back over the base and secure it with the metal clips on the top lid. Connect the two-pronged electrical plug to the top lid of the washer by hand.
  • 9 Flip the control console back down over the washer lid and secure the console with screws in the front. Place the caps back over the ends of the control console by hand.
  • 10 Plug the Kenmore 70 series washer into the electricity supply and test wash.

My washer will not spin. I believe the belt to be broken but the bottom is sealed. I cant look at it by laying unit down. How do I check this out?

first i would check your lid switch, you can test the lid switch by removing the 2 screws that hold down the control panel, some machines you need to remove the end caps of the panel to get to the screws,,,then pull the panel forward just a little and flip it back the panel has plastic hinges on top so be careful not to break them,,,then the plug going into the base is your lid switch,,unplug it and run a jumper wire across the plug and set machine on spin and see what happens. run the jumper wire to the two outside wires stay away from the green wire. if the machine spins then your switch is bad

Replaced trans in washer now motor won't run do I need to reset motor?

Determine if the transmission is locked up--remove drive belt and turn the driven pulley by hand. It should move in either direction without too much force. If not, something went wrong with xmission install. If OK then you may have broken a wire or not plugged the motor connector properly.

Belt on my kenmore 70 series washing machine

Your washer should be a direct drive unit, it has no belt. If you hear the motor running but nothing is happening you probably have a broken motor coupler. The coupler is about $10.

Pop off the trim pieces on each end of the console.
Remove the two screws that hold the console to the cabinet and flip the console back.
Remove the two clips that hold the cabinet to the rear panel of the washer and unplug the lid switch harness. The cabinet will tilt forward and slide off.
Remove the clips holding the water pump and move it to the side.
Unplug the wires from the motor and remove the clips holding it.
You will see the motor coupler.
Make sure you can turn the gearcase shaft with a pair of pliers so it is not locked up.
Post back and let me know what you find or if you need any help.
