Analog audio signal applied to "line input" jack on audio card produces no audio out (Dell 8300)

Ok, i'm not sure what version of windows you are running but on my windows xp machine I right click on my volume icon (little speaker) on the right side of the start bar on bottom of screen. Then click 'open volume control' , This will open up 'play control' window. In this window you now want to click 'options' in the upper left corner and select properties from the drop down menu. This will open up a second window titled 'Properties', near the top of this windows there is a section titled 'Adjust volume for', under this select the 'Recording' option. This will change the list of volume controls to your computers audio inputs. Make sure the input you are trying to use has a check mark next to it then click 'OK' on the bottom right of the 'Properties' window. The 'Properties' windows will close and the Play control window will now have the title 'Record control'. Make sure any inputs you want to use are turned up and there is a check mark next to the 'Selected' check box under the volume bar for each input. This should fix it for you. If you are using a different version of windows let me know what Windows you're using and i'll post a followup for you with the correct instructions. Good luck!

I have a Behringer 1002 mixer. Applying 0 dBu unbalanced to the input I need the -10/+4 control in its most sensitive position to acheive 0 db out with the main output control set at 0 dB. Is this cor

Depends on the input you are using. First you need to calibrate signal coming in with the Gain attenuation knob. Setting this prior to adjusting your channel output volume should calibrate the signal so when the channel volume knob is set to 0 and the Main volume is set to 0, the meters should indicate a true 0 reading. Not setting the Gain correctly will affect this. On the 1/4" channel inputs, you have less adjustment and may have to adjust the item you are plugging in from its source. If you are having issues with high gain, chances are it could be a cable issue, or something from the source itself.

I can't seem to get PowerPoint to pick up the sound from the microphone..... I have tried every conceivable setting under the sun.... Using Microsoft XP.... Message telling me to go to Multimedia...

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

In Sounds & Audio Devices Properties window locate SOUND PLAYBACK box. Click the VOLUME button. Make sure that there is not a check-mark in the MUTE box against microphone in the list of devices and that the volume slider is at the top of the scale.

Make sure the MUTE ALL box isn't checked before closing the window.

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls).

NOTE if your microphone is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK. Same applies for Internal mic.

That should be it.

To adjust audio volume generally.

Under VOLUME tab adjust Device Volume as necessary. Also (under Loudpeaker Settings) click Speaker Volume and adjust slider to suit.

You might put a check mark in the box to show the volume control on the Task Bar so you can go straight to it to make adjustments in the future.

Just purchased Samson dynamic microphone. Can we use this with a portable stereo or computer? If yes, how does it work? What do we do to set it up?

You can use it with a portable stereo that has a microphone input socket - just plug it in. You may need to adjust a mic volume control - this will vary from one system to another.

With a computer just plug it onto the microphone input socket (usually colour coded red or pink)

You will also need to enable it in 'control panel' - see below.

I would suggest you try to find a universal remote that has an "input" or "source" button and program that one to your tv. By pressing the "source" or "input" button, it will change the input to the tv. I hope this helps! -Der Strom

I have a Boss OL5KD Class D Monoblock Amplifier and I set it up but is no sound coming up from the speakers, can anyone tell me how to higher the volumen? where is located the volumen??I need to higher the...

Hello maydude01,

The Boss OL5KD does not have a volume control. It has an "Input Level" adjustment which is used to match the output from your head unit preamp output to the amp. It is the first rotary control just to the right of the input jacks.

If you have no sound at all, I'd suspect that something is incorrectly connected or there is no input to the amp. First make sure that the amp power light (green LED) is coming on when you turn on the receiver and that the protection light (red LED) stays off. Then check all of your wiring, especially the RCA output cables.

Initially set the controls like this: MASTER/SLAVE switch in MASTER position (left). INPUT SENSITIVITY 2v-8v (right). INPUT LEVEL, SUBSONIC FILTER, BASS BOOST, and LOW PASS FILTER; midrange. PHASE SHIFT "0" (left). Leave the remote level control disconnected.

After you've checked all wiring and initially set the switches and controls, turn the receiver on to about 3/4 volume. Now adjust the INPUT LEVEL to the left just until you begin to hear distortion, then turn it back right just a little. Adjust the other controls for best sound. Plug in the remote level control and make sure that it adjusts the bass up and down. You're finished!

If there's still no output from the unit after checking all of the wiring, either the unit is defective, it's not getting an input from the receiver, or the sub(s) are defective.

Hope this helps.

Mintex 37 inch wide screen. remote is working however cannot change channel, input source or volum. only turns tv off. The buttone on tv doesnot work connot change input source or volume

Check if the remote is in TV position, that is, because most of the remote controllers have the feature that you can program them for use with another devices. Make shure that one button that says "TV" in pressed and released once before you try to change any function on the TV.
