Check the main power cord to make sure it is connected. and that you ahve the proper power to the unit.you can also check the thermal fuses located in the cabinet.or you may have to replace the main control board.

My kenmore 400 dryer timer doesnt move causing the electric switch go of every three minutes

Wow! Sounds like a couple different issues. First, make sure you have a free flow of air through your dryer duct work. The first place to check is where your dryer vent exits the home. With the dryer running, is there a good volume of air flowing through? No? Unplug dryer, ensure there are no kinks in the duct work, check for lint buildup in the duct work and on the back side (Inside of unit) of the lint trap. If you find no obstructions the blower motor may be bad or have a bad connection. The timer/selector switch could have a loose connection, gone bad or be dirty from lint buildup. If it's lint buildup around the switch you may be able to clean it with an old narrow 2" paint brush and some electrical contact cleaner. Make sure the appliance is unplugged when working inside the unit! Also, if you use electrical contact cleaner make sure you give it ample time to evaporate before testing dryer. If none of this helps, time to get on the phone. Good luck! :)

Hi gordydugg...

Replace your timer it is defective and non repairable...
When you go to replace with your new timer, I would recommend that you remove and replace one wire at a time.

Doesnt heat up tested coil (hook up to110 volt house got hot ) but dryer doent heat up

There are a couple temperature sensors that you can test, they can fail over time. It can also be the timer.
There is a sensor that detects when the dryer is cool and the heating coil can turn on. If it fails the dryer will never heat up.
There is also a sensor that detects when the dryer has overheated, and it prevents the dryer from turning on.
Hope it's not your timer.

My maytag electric dryer is not getting hot.

It sounds like the element shorted out and caused more damage to the unit. Remove and check the heating elment, thermal fuse (located near element), and timer. The timer will be hard to test if you don't have a meter. I would suggest that you check the element first. This is probably your main problem.

Roper dryer, timer doesn't time out and not heating up?

Dryer will run forever if it doesnt heat up, Dryer has to heat up and thermostat has to get hot and open to start the timer. Odds are rally great, it is your heating element.

Dryer won't stop running

The hot wire runs through the start button as a bridge to complete the circuit until the motor centrifigal switch closes the circuit when running. Now if you manually start your dryer and the timer doesnt advance keeping the dryer on until you open the door or advance the timer manually then the timer is good but the motor to advance the cam is faulted. The second scenario is that the dryer is off when the door is open, but when you close the door the dryer starts. With the second scenario we have a closed circuit at all times. At this point you have either a stuck start button or the centrifigal switch is closed. Usually it is the start button on this model.

Dryer doesn't get hot or turn off.

yes very possible timer but my guess on the times i seen the problem would be the heating element are the thermo fuse on the elemnt canister when the heater does not come on the timer will not move ck the heater and the fuses on the heater canister it will fix your problem
