Too bad someone didn't answer this sooner. Caused be poor air circulation in the unit. There is indeed a thermal fuse used in this unit. This problem has been around for a while and no real solution has been found. The closest "fix" is to remove the fuse, turn it around and only hook it down with the screw that faces the panel. The other screw hole is then bent to a 45 degree upward slant. This give the fuse a little breathing room.

F5 E1 Door latch not operating
1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds. Momentarily (less than 5 sec.)
press CANCEL/OFF key again to remove error code display.
2. If the door is not latched (locked), ensure that it is completely closed. Press CLEAN then START/ENTER.
Verify that the latch motor is operating.
3. Unplug range or disconnect power.
4. If motor did operate, check integrity of latch mechanism from cam/eccentric, through actuating rod, to latch

Go to step 6.
5. If motor did not operate, check continuity of the latch motor and of electrical connections between oven
control and motor. If continuity is present, replace control.
6. Plug in range or reconnect power.
7. Put range into CLEAN mode to verify proper operation.

I used the self cleaning for the top oven of my double whirpool Accubake ovens today. It worked fine during the process. But now, after it has cooled down. The panel is not lit up with the clock etc. and I...

There is a non-resettable fuse on the back of the oven that will have to be replaced. The oven will have to be removed from the wall and the back panel removed from the oven to access the fuse.

Oven won't heat

Unplug the power cord for thirty minutes, this should reset the oven.
If this still does not work do the following:
Press clean and then cancel. This will reset the appliance.

If the error does not clear , then during the self cleaning cycle, the high temperature has probably damaged the temperature sensor probe, and it must be replaced.

Dead Whirlpool Double Oven

This happened to us the first time we used the self-cleaning feature. The repairman said we had to replace the whole electronic panel -- but when he put in the new panel it didn't work either. It turned out he just needed to replace the oven shutdown thermal fuse I believe. We finally got up enough courage to try the self-cleaning again and the exact thing happened. The door is locked and the electronic panel is dead again. So when we get it fixed we will never use the self-clean again.

Cleaning cycle failure

Please call KitchenAid/Whirlpool directly and ask to speak to the 'executive management team'
I had this fault for the second time and this time I spoke to the Exec Management team who said they were unaware of this as a common fault. My stove was ‘fixed’ free of charge – the fuse was replaced, again.
Please everyone who has had or is having this problem call again – this problem needs to be fixed, replacing the fuse each time or not using the self clean function is NOT a fix.

Cleaned then Dead

nextwave, looks like you have a safety thermostat (TCO) on the back of the oven. Should have a red and red/white stripe wire going to it. If this opens it will cut the power to the display, part number is 316003606. The hardest part of this gig is pulling the oven out to change the t-stat out. Catriver.

Oven shut down during Self-cleaning

tde, sounds like your thermal fuse (TC0) opened on the back side of the oven. If this opens, it will shut the oven down. This happens alot during self cleaning on built ins. Sometimes I have to re-route the tco to a different area to prevent this from happening. Your part number is 4451442. You will have to pull the oven out far enough to remove the back paneling and replace the back.
