Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Ibook powers up but there is nothing on the screen. Before, it was intermittent like a loose connection but now there is nothing. I've taken the thing apart and have the LCD removed. There is no evidence of a bad connection. I'm trying to find a schematic to locate the power wire coming into the LCD just to see if this is the problem. Any suggestions?

What could cause intermittent power loss to radio, ac and crusis control in 2012 Chrysler 200?

The good news: since it's intermittent it's probably a simple loose or dirty electrical connection. In other words, nothing major. The bad news: intermittent problems are very difficult to find, because by Murphy's Law they won't show up when a mechanic's looking for them. Try unplugging and replugging every electrical plug you see under the hood. Sometimes that's enough to restore the connection. Also check your fuse box for a loose fuse, and (though this is unlikely) your battery cables. Good luck.

Acer Aspire 5536 only gives black screen when i connect power supply

  • Nothing is more annoying than a monitor that refuses to turn on. Make sure your Acer monitor is plugged in to a functioning outlet. If it's plugged into a power strip, try replacing it with a new one or moving the plug to a different outlet. Ensure that both ends of the power cable are plugged in firmly and securely, and that the connection to the monitor is not loose.
Cable Issues
  • Your Acer LCD monitor will usually accept DVI and VGA inputs. If you have an older computer, a VGA cable should work fine. If it doesn't have a VGA port, you'll need to obtain an inexpensive DVI to VGA adapter at your local computer store. A DVI cable, however, is compatible with most modern computers and offers superior picture quality over VGA. Make sure you're using the cable that's compatible with your system, and that you have the proper conversion adapter, if necessary.

Assuming you've checked the battery for a possible short and both the battery and the starter for loose connections, no click sounds like a faulty starter solonoid, which could work intermittently.

The laptop is powering on but the screen is black.

It is possible that the connection from the lcd to the video card is loose and making intermittent contact,i think this laptop does not have an integrated video chip so if the card is the problem you can replace it,you will have to dismantle the laptop in order to see if the connection is loose or not, another possiblty is that the cable to the screen is the problem, from the description you gave of the picture on your external monitor it is more than likely that the video card is causing you to have nothing on either screen, hope this helps let us know what happens

Ibook powers up but no video

Before disassembling the unit, the recommended way to diagnose a display failure is to use the appropriate adapter to connect the iBook to an external display or TV. If the external display shows an image, the internal display assembly is at fault; otherwise, it could be the graphics processor or logic board. This step may be more difficult now that you have your unit apart.
Two cable sets drive the display. One provides image signal, the other provides power to the backlight. It is common for them to fray where they run through the hinges. Either or both could be the cause of your problem. Another possibility is that your backlight has burned out, as it is nothing but a small fluorescent tube and they fail with age.

My iBook is Sad.

I would connect another monitor to it, if you see the same on the monitor, the videocard/GPU is toast, if not , the onboard display is.

Water damage to iBook g4

You fried your motherboard. It would have taken at least a week if not longer to get all the moisture out of your computer but since you started it while there was still water in it, it fried it. You will have to replace your motherboard.
