Re: no spin on a roper

This machine does not use a belt. It has what is called a motor coupler between the motor and transmission. This is not the first place to check. I'd be looking at the lid switch first. This machine will not spin if the switch is faulty.

Burnt rubber smell during spin cycle

Assuming it's a top loader, the coupling between the motor and the tub is failing. If this is an older machine, the cost of replacement may not be within reason. The cabinet has to be removed and additional disassembly is required to replace the coupling

My 4 year old roper washer leaves grease on clothes. On spin cycle the machine makes a screaching noise, and the clothes don't spin dry.

Possible that the belt is slipping and also there is some issue with the agitator as the gaps within seems to bring up the dirt or grease mix to the clothes.
So it is important to remove the panel and check the play on the belt, replace if the play is high and check if the agitator bearings are worn out. If so the agitator assembly must be taken out and checked.

How to take back off of a roper washing machine

Your washer does not have a belt! It operates on a "direct drive" concept. You could have an issue with one of the following:

* spin/lid switch

* drive coupling assembly

* timer

* motor

The macine fills with water but when it is supposed to spin it barely moves. When you spin by hand it begins to spin on its own

it would appear that you have a poorly tentioned serpentine belt of the belt has snpped

Roper RAS8445KQ0 spins but not fast enough

if it has no belt, seams like the clutch is slipping in the transmission, hence the burning smell

Roper Model RAS6233KQ Spin Cycle doesn't get the water out

Its sounds like the pump has frozen, If your smelling the belt burning its either that, the tranny binding, Or the tensioner has a defect (very unlikely). If its washing, agitating and spinning okay its the pump. Get ya a new belt while your at it!

This is a direct drive washer so there is no belt. The drive coupler that connects the motor to the tub may need to be replaced.
