Loose agitator Maytag LAT2600AAE

Seems like a lot of people are having problems with the loose agitators.  Same for me.  I can completely remove the agitator and I don't see any hole (s) for a set screw.

I have the same problem with the agitator. This agitator has two parts. The bottom part which is attached by that 10 mm screw. Then the top part which slides down onto the agitator shaft that has the grooves that agitate the clothes. That has popped up and does not want to attach to the shaft of the agitator. There for the clothes are not getting clean. I do not see any screw that holds that part of the agitator to the rest of the agitator

Look toward the bottom end of the agitator. There should be a small indentation where a 10mm screw is. This screw holds the agitator the the transmission shaft. Sometimes the screw works loose and needs to be tightened.

It's not the agitator that's the problem. It's the auger that attaches to the agitator. The auger doesn't attach via a screw, it has teeth that locks into the agitator. After time the teeth wear out and there's no way to secure the auger. The solution is to replace the whole assembly, auger and agitator together.

The agitator seems loose on my Maytag top loading machine.. model LAT9206BAE it started this after one of my kids overloaded the machine.. works fine but makes a loud clanging noise while washing.. almost...

Use a 1/4 inch nut driver to tighten the set screw to the agitator shaft. It is about 3 inches up from the bottom of the agitator on the side of the agitator.

Ge whdrr418e4ww my agitator seems to have come loose

One stupid question on trying to get access to the nut to remove the agitator shaft. After I removed the fabric softener dispenser there appears to be a plastic cap between. I've tried everything I can to remove this piece of plastic so i can get access to bolt.. Am I missing something obvious?

Maytag washing machine, model LAT2600AAE, stopped draining water in spin cycle. The motor agitates cycle but will not drain water. What can I do? I'm not a pro at fixing these things.

On the underside of the machine, you'll see the belts from the motor to both the drum and the water pump. If the belt to the pump is intact, check to see if it is loose. If so, you'll see 3 screws holding the pump housing in place. Try to readjust the pump so the belt is a little more snug. This worked for mine that was having the same problem. You may need to remove the front panel to reach the drain hose to drain your drum 1st - have a couple buckets and towels handy as well as someone else to run and dump your full buckets. Good luck.

Washing machine agitator is loose and makes a lot of noise. Can't figure out how to remove the agitator

Remove top cap of agitator (it may need to be gently pryed up or simply popped off). Under the cap is a large nut which needs to be removed. With the nut removed simply pull the agitator up.

Hello! my tub seems to be very loose and makes loud noise when spin cycle turns on....what might that be?

you will need to remove your agitator. There should be a bolt on the top center of the agitator. you will need to remove the top of agitator or the cap to get to this bolt. once you loosen this bolt the hole agitator shold pull straight up.

Now you should see the long shaft in the center. Follow that shaft from the top down to the area where the shaft disappers and ther is a big round nut with 4 notches spaced evenly. This is call the spanner nut and you should use a spanner rench to tighten it with a small sleg or hammer ( a couple of good wacks should do. ) I know you probably do not have this tool, but at least you can verify that this is your problem. your spanner nut may be loose. this nut holds your inner tub down to the block. here is the break down

Disassembly of washer agitator

With the palm of your hand, bang the very top section of the agitator, there are no screws, it is just a firm push-fit.
Do it with the agitator locked in the tub.
