This is a known problem with Canon printer. There's really no paper jamming the printer, it's just that the sensor is detecting something that cannot be seen. One work around to avoid this is to clean the printer.

1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the Canon printer. This is an important step when working inside ANY electronic device.

2. Unhinge the back access panel of the printer. It seems repetitive to say this, but this door will be in the BACK of the printer.

3. Look through the opened back panel and look for paper. Remove any and all paper you find jammed there. If you couldn't find any, then use an air blower to remove dust from the inside of the printer.

If same problem occurs after making sure that everything's clear, then you may need to contact the manufacturer for possible repair. It seems that the sensor is no longer working correctly.

Have a great day!

Hi,

There are 2 solutions :-

1. There is a PAPER JAM - OK!! Check all obstructions. I believe you did. Check it once again to be on a safe side.

Turn the printer off and open your access covers, Look for any possible obstructions you may have missed.. You can usually slightly move the carrier assembly with he power off..
Now turn the printer on and , load up some paper, and press the paper feed or form feed button.. Watch the paper as it feeds through and pay attention to if it doesn't come out correctly.

Also make sure all visible rollers are actually moving, If the rollers are moving something may be in the paper feeding path you cannot see, If the rollers are not moving you have a mechanical problem..

2. There is NO PAPER JAM - This is really a nightmare and usually happen on this model. You do not have any Paper Jam, still getting message.I am going to recommend two things, download and update the printers firm aware, that usually clears out stuck error messages, and then download the printers drivers..

If unable to update, ITS A SITUATION, WHETHER EITHER YOU NEED TO GET IT REPAIRED OR REPLACED.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

DO ACCEPT THE SOLUTION IF 100% SATISFIED.

    Thanks for your response!!

We love to help you, but if you are sure there is a Paper Jam, we can only guide you. First,

HOW CAN YOU BE SURE THERE IS A PAPER JAM?

I mean, this error message is there even if there is a mechanical problem other than Jamming. We can only guide you. If you have already opened the machine and didn't find it, WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT?

Sorry to be rude, either follow what the expert's opinion might be or do whatever you want. I agree the level of frustration but there is a reason for every opinion.

If problem still persists, kindly contact tech.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Put your hand into the paper tray till it hits the rollers. Rotate the roller big one. bottom to top so that the stuck piece of parer outwards. do not pull the paper else it will tear into smaller piece.

Lift he covers up on the machine and you can get to it. If you have to take a cover off with a screw driver, that's okay, do it. You can get into the machine and pull the paper out!

Canon mx700 error code 5100 - printhead seems to be jammed to the right following power cut - nothing to do with computer. Have switched machine off and unplugged it from mains, but will still not work...

Hi You can Try 2 things.

ERROR 5100 means that there is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there

Next try.

It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Ive got a pixma mx700 printer and im getting the 5c00 error how do i get rid of this

Error code 5C00 refers to possible paper jam or product needs reset or service.

It is possible that a previous paper jam has left a piece of paper inside the machine. If you cannot see any paper jammed at either input area, open the rear cover and look in there. Otherwise, you can try to reset the product:

Reset the printer:

1. Turn the printer off with the Power button

2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer

3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. Attach data cable.

4. Turn the printer back on

If all of these suggestions fail, your MX700 may require repair service.

Print jam with Canon MX700

Monica, on the back of the printer is a black panel that pulls out by grabbing the tab that sticks out on the one side and pulling. That will allow you to acces the jammed piece and reset the printer! Hope this solves it! Eric

Printer jam error but cannot find any paper

the smalled piece of paper can cause it to stop.. if you are 100% sure that it is not a jam, then it can be that your ink is leaking, and drying up in the printer.. I had that problem once, and I had to buy a new printer.
