SOURCE: How to convert blower to vac. Toro 850 super

Hi,

Remove the air inlet guard on the bottom by pressing the release and pulling down on the guard. It will tilt off. Remove the blower pipe from the front of the machine by pressing the tab and wiggling it off (It is usually a tighter fit than the air guard). Install the vacuum pipe on the air inlet, where the guard was removed. Install the bag where the air blower pipe was removed.

Best regards, --W/D--

How to repair Toro Super Blower no longer blowing, only vacs/intakes?

when you remove the vac part there should be another "grid type" part that snaps in place of the vac tube. This engages the safety switch and keeps your fingers out of the impeller.

My blower is running extra high and hard. so high that it shakes the cap off. how can i tame it down. model 51587

Remove the bottom of the blower or vac and see if any blades are broken on the plastic fan blade, known as an impeller. If a blade is sheared off, this could be the source of your noise and shaking. This part will need to be replaced. I've just ordered one and will be replacing mine when it comes in.

there is a seperate fan switch on the control panel located on the rear of the console. remove inner console and inspect wiring first. it also hosts a seperate blower than your dash blower so any sign of melted wires can be replaced.

Replace the flywheel key by removing the rewind housing, the flywheel nut and then remove the flywheel by using a small engine universal puller (cheap) and install a new key.

ROOF Ramrod impellar removal

I just acquired an original manual for my Ramrod, which states:

"Four blade impeller made of 1/4" steel rotates at speeds up to 3600 RPM (In the 5 hp model). Impeller is keyed directly to the engine crankshaft by 1/4" key and held in position by a T-head cap screw."

The cap screws also vary between the 3 and 5 hp units, but the over-all setup appears to be the same.

Motor still runs--sounds like jet engine. do I need a new motor? or is there some sort of muffler that has malfunctioned? vacuum belongs to disabled mom---so trying to do work ourselves--cant afford much....

This little vac I think is actually made by Samsung. If it is ROARING and vibrating, either the bearings or suction fan is in bad shape. Remove the lid as if to inspect the belt and see if there is a visible intake opening with a plastic fan rotating inside. If so you have to inspect for damaged fan blade . A broken blade will cause the noise you describe and can be fixed on most vacs by carefully opening the fan housing and unscrewing, the fan from its threaded shaft. Then screwing on a new matching fan. Post back with more info and I`ll try to walk you thru the process

Bought used Giant-vac walk behind leaf blower.

The model number that you posted looks like a briggs model. You can go to any briggs dealer and buy the engine manual for this engine. That will give you the procedue for rebuilding the carburetor which looks like a place to start. I also think that giant-vac was bought by some other company thus you may have to do some research on the internet.
The parts manual for the engine is on the briggs internet site.
good luck

Leaf Blowers types

* Handheld units are the most popular. Available in gas- or electric-powered versions, they're portable and convenient, yet powerful. These models can get heavy while using. Larger models can also vibrate a bit at full throttle. Consider the weight and balance of the unit when shopping. * Backpack leaf blowers are gas-powered. The blower fits in a harness that's worn on the operator's back. The hose reaches to the front where the user operates the throttle and blow or vacuum tube. Backpack blowers are normally used in larger areas. * Walk Behind leaf blowers cover the most acreage. Mounted on wheels, these gas-powered machines are normally the tool of choice for commercial users, but for regular homeowners, they can make short work of a home lawn. Vacuum units use a hose for picking up debris.
