Un able to get picture

I connected my 42" prima plasma tv up for first time and it worked perfectly for a little over an hour. while watching it, it just shut off. i tried to re start it but nothing happened . i pulled the plug and reinserted it but it only gave me a fuzzy screen for few secs and then a bright screen and then shut down again

it was suggested to return the product to the store, the problem with that suggestion is the fact that i am out of the usa and returning it would really be difficult

It sounds like a powers supply problem. If you dont get a menu or any thing like that from the monitor it may be some kind of power supply problem. Here is a listing I came accross on the web. It seems like you are not the only one having problems.

It sounds like it gradually overheated and one or more components burnt out. If this is the first time you've used it, I'd suggest taking it back to the store to be replaced. It seems like a manufacturing defect to me.

If that's not an option, let me know and we can delve into this deeper. However, it's unlikely to be an easy fix.

The ambient temperature might be high. Check whether the foolinf fans are working or not. If not, check out the reason for it. The TV must be placed at least 6cm away from wall, and should have sufficant ventilaation.

Samsung Plasma 42" TV - 2006

Hi, this is quite a common problem for plasma screens and LCD screens. The fluroscent backlight is more than likely faulty and would need replacing. The best thing to do is to take it to a service centre because there are no user servicable parts inside the plasma.

Screen turns bright red

If your TV works for an hour or so then it is probably not a connection problem. It sounds like a component is heating up or there is a problem with your picture tube. Make sure the TV has enough ventilation around it but it maybe time to think about getting a new one.

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies. If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min. This should help even out the pixels on the display.

Please let us know more details next time, like what you have tried already. Try connecting your screen directly to a DVD player or other alternative source to make sure the problem isn't with the source, maybe you were watching cable TV and the connection is slightly loose - Try playing with all the connections, pulling them a little out or pushing in, blowing into them, replacing cables, Try connecting another screen. at the moment its hard to tell what went wrong. Does the sound come from the plasmas speakers, or from a home theatre setup? If you couldnt work it out with the very basic solutions listed above please repost your original question with as much relevant detail as possible. Good luck
