Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook
I had the battery not recognized on boot up (dell inspiron 1501 bios 2.6.1). then the ac adapter stopped giving ac power. i changed to a different adapter (hp notebook) and now only works on ac power (it doesn't charge the battery). i updated the bios (version 2.6.3) and now get the ac adapter not recognized msg. additionally the original adapter doesn't show the green light it used to when plugged into an outlet. any thoughts on trying to salvage the original adapter vs modifying the one that runs on ac power only vs getting a new dell adapter? thanks in advance for your help.
The Dell AC adapter has a sensing pin so the bios can determine the wattage of the adapter. If the system cannot ID the adapter, the battery charger circuit is disabled. You'll need a functional DELL ac adapter to get the battery to charge
