Question about Homelite Consumer Products 9.0 Amp, 14 In. Chainsaw

My chain saw (14 inch gas powered) would not

My chain saw (14 inch gas powered) would not rotate. I went to Home Depot and the rep noticed that some of the teeth were missing. So, he replaced the chain. It started and spun around just fine at the store. At home, I tried to cut a small 2 inch branch. It spun the chain okay, but would not cut the branch. There seems to be an exess of oil. Maybe when we put the saw on its side to replace the chain, extra oil fell out....I don't know. I don't know why a new chain won't cut. It appears to be leaking oil now, when at rest on the counter. Any ideas??

Modern chainsaws have the ability to run without turning the chain via the chain-brake. To set the brake the uppermost handle is pushed forward (toward the chain) and a firm snap should be heard and felt. To release the brake you pull the same handle back (towards the engine) and get the same "snap".
Concerning oil leakage: Bar/chain lube collects on the inside of the clutch cover and the sawdust mixes with it as you saw. A surprising amount of oil gets absorbed in the sawdust and later seeps back out when the saw is at rest. If the level of oil in the tank noticably drops after sitting overnight you may have a leak...otherwise it's normal.
As for a running chain that wont cut, it is common for chains to be installed backward and the unit still function perfectly (it just won't cut wood). See the proper chain orientation here. In this photo the chain travel is from left to right.

How to remove the chain from a husqvarna 235e chainsaw?

Like this or pretty close.

  1. Cock brake while expanding chain brake binder by pulling brake handle towards left-hand (wrap-around) handle grip, hard, until it locks in place.

  2. Loosen 2 brake-asssembly-and- bar retaining nuts but do not remove yet.

  3. Unscrew (turn CCW) bar adjustment screw on front face of unit in order to shorten bar and slacken saw chain.

  4. Slip chain off bar over bar tip and towards inward side of bar.

  5. Remove two nuts loosened in step 2 and pull brake assembly and bar straight out and off bar mounting studs.

  6. While rotating clutch/brake-drum, maneuver saw chain off sprocket and around drum perimeter to remove from saw.

  7. Repeat/reverse steps 6 thru 1 in that order to reassemble.

Makita electric chainsaw runs intermittenly?

Most likely loose wiring inside the casing of some kind. When it comes to chainsaws gas really is better. You can pickup a 14" at Lowes or Home Depot for a little over $100. Take care of it like the manual says and it'll last much longer than an electric one.

Can i upsize my chain from a 14 inch to a 16 inch i have a 14 inch mcculloch and i want to put a 16 inch bar and chain on it. it is a 35 cc engine

There will be a 16" option, however things to remember, you will have a drop in power, so you need to keep the chain sharp, the oiling system will probably on its limit.

Just got a homelite 33cc 14 inch chain saw, do you mix gas and oil on this chain saw?

Yes you do! The ratio is 50:1 fuel to oil. Be sure to use a modern synthetic saw oil available at home centers, hardware stores, and saw dealers. Be sure to use fresh fuel and mix the two in it's own container. Be sure to shake the container thoroughly each time just before refueling to prevent oil starvation in the engine. Don't make up more than one gallon at a time unless sawing is your business. Hope this helps!

Hi there,i m looking for 16"chain ryobi 40cc chain saw

Take your saw or old chain to a shop that works on small motors and they can make one . Take it to lowes and try one of theirs. They have them to fit any brand saw. Sears, Home Depot or a small hardware store.
