HTC touch pro frequently requires reset

I am on my 3rd HTC touch pro. Finally after receiving my 3rd phone from the sprint store the rep told me the truth. All of the problems with the HTC Touch pro are not phone problems they are Windows issues. I would take my pro in for a hard reset about three times then they would get me a new phone(you guessed it) another HTC touch pro. After the third time I called Sprint. The new version of windows(October 31 2009) might help. I can't get another phone until my next contract upgrade(2 years). URGHhhhhhhhhhhhh

HTC Touch Pro is a joke. My HTC Mogul quit working after a year's worth of light use in August 2009. I stupidly chose to upgrade to the HTC Touch Pro. The first one I had, the keyboard quit working with 6 weeks (unfortunately for me, not in Sprint's 30 trade in period!). I had also had issues with the screen freezing off and on, and not being able to answer calls half the time. Don't even get me started on the camera lag, the not being able to hear who is calling me due to poor ear speaker, etc, etc.

So, I called Sprint, and they replaced it with a "refurbished" model. No battery included, just a phone in a bag in a UPS box. I got my number transferred over to it, got all my info transferred over to the "new" Touch Pro. Within two hours, the phone locked down - completely froze. Tried soft reset - NOTHING. Took the battery out for a few minutes. Resolved the issue temporarily. Within an hour it had done it again. By the sixth lock down in less than 24 hours, the phone stayed that way for 2 hours straight. As I type this, two days in to having the phone, I am now up to eleven different times this phone has froze up.

I called Sprint, asked them to please replace this piece of ****. They so nicely offered to replace it with yet another HTC Touch Pro. I asked them if it was at all possible to replace it with a comparable phone from another manufacturer. The answer? NO. It seems it is their policy that they have to replace a phone at least THREE seperate times before they will even consider replacing it with another brand. So, I wrote to every executive e-mail address I could find. I was finally contacted by a "V.I.P. Analyst" with
"Sprint Executive & Regulatory Services" through my e-mail. She told my wife she's been leaving me voicemails on my phone. Funny, I don't even show a missed call on the phone. Unknown as to the voicemails, because the phone won't unfreeze for long enough for me to check them!

Anyway, my wife explained that I was totally unsatisfied by the Touch Pro, and again asked for it to be replaced with a comparable phone from a different brand, as I need a phone that is reliable for business use. Amazingly, she was told no. She explained, again, that we have been with Sprint for five years, and carry five lines with them, spending an average amount of $4200 a year on their services alone. She told her she could "understand your frustration, but the contract you "signed" says that they are only a service provider and are in no way responsible for the devices." The best they can do is replace it with another Touch Pro, as they have no record of having problems with this device. My wife told her to check some of the internet forums and tech reviews. The response? She can "appreciate that people are blogging about it, but again, Sprint has no known issues with this particular device." Funny, I can read through this one site alone and see that SEVERAL Sprint customers have issues with the Touch Pro.

I'm still trying to get something done through Sprint, as overall, they are a great company to be with. I just can't believe they would be willing to lose a five year customer over a piece of **** like the Touch Pro!

My recommendation on the HTC Touch Pro? STAY AWAY, STAY VERY FAR AWAY!!!

    Same thing here. Only I did not have a problem UNTIL I put the July 2010 ROM upgrade on my 1st HTC Touch Pro 2. Biggest lock up happens when the data connection is open...
    I want to check out the ROM on my current HTC Touch Pro 2 (the new one they gave me)...but it can't stay up long enough for me to check the Sytem Sttings Tab.
    The guy at the Srpint store "warned" me that they might have to Hard Reset the phone...(like I don't know how to do that after these last couple of months!! I only have 6 months left to go for the 12 month portion of the contract (as the main phone can be switched out every 12 months...not 24) !!!

Never buy phones from sprint store , these phones are most likely refurbs buy online,make sure the package is sealed

I have HTC touch Pro and hate it! if it worked consistently It would be a great phone. like HTC sucks above I too have taken phone in many times and replaced once so far I am in my first year with this phone and Sprint about 5 or 6 years also. Cause family is on Sprint.. Well they may end soon. I to cant answer cause it freezes on me many times, loses calls, get a VM a day or hours later, Txt messages came in a late when I was 4 states away visiting my sister she would txt and I would get next =day while visiting Whats up with that?? My latest new problem along with the others is when I tap a character I get a different one or hit menu for reply or it goes to vidio in other words I tap to direct and it goes where it wants like a bingo game..I am a calm person but this is makinhg me crazy!

HTC has posted an update for the ROM image for the HTC Touch Pro (Sprint). I had same issues (and many others). The update fixed them, apparently, as the phone is now quite stable. Considering it's windows, that's good news.

I've read on a website that HTC is offering free upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.5. I don't remember the site off hand but it's something you can look into.

You can easily unlock HTC Touch Pro2. Just insert Invalid Sim card. it will ask you for unlock code. Enter unlock code. Your Locked Touch Pro will be Unlocked and able to accept any GSM Sim card.

You should buy an unlock code from a trusted HTC unlocking service.

Can Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 unlocked? I just got one from Sprint (not activated yet) and are trying to unlock it - but do not know if it is possible.


it is possible with special equipment.
alternativley it may be able to be unlocked via code.
let me know what network it is locked to and which country. it is not free though as the code has to be purchased. iwill be able to give a price once i have the above info.

I have a Touch Pro 2 from Sprint. I can't receive text messages or calls.


Reset your phone then try again, if still not working unlock your phone network using htc touch pro2 unlock code. This code can you get from your network provider or you can buy from online htc unlock code retailer.

Call the Sprint Store, and give them your security code and they should give you a new password so that you can reset it.

Slide out keyboard not working on HTC Touch Pro


Take the battery out of the TP and then press down very hard on the spacebar. This will reconnect the flex cable and will fix it for the time being. But in the end a replacement will be needed.

Reflash of OS WinMobile will probably help, you can find a lot about it on www.xda-developers.com in forum choose your HTC TP, there is friendly described how to flash it. Original or updated software to download you will find also on HTC webpag.

Keyboard doesn't work


My keyboard went out twice already, I took it to my phone company and they traded it in both times at no cost to me. They just told me that has been happening alot with this phone. I would recommend just going to your service provider.

Transfered mp3's from itunes wont show up in Sprint Music player.


If I'm not mistaken you need to have all files that you want show up in Sprint Music Player on the memory card in a folder that says MUSIC or AUDIO. From there open your Windows Media Player and click on Menu and then Click Update Library. Once all Songs are updated exit out of and go to Sprint Music Store. From there click on Library, then go to music note (All Songs tab). It should show you all of the songs that are available. Click on anyone and they should all load on the Now Playing screen. Try that and see if it works.
