Take out USB cable, Unplug from wall wait 5 mins, plug back in. in between, Reboot your PC, then plug it all back in, Plug In, Turn on, plug into the USB port. This may fix it.

I have 6310 printer It will not lightup /turn on

The power cord module A/C adapter should get warm when plugged into the wall receptacle. There is no o/o switch.

Check eBay or www.partsurfer.HP.com for a new A/C adapter.

Find the software / drivers at www.hp.com

It has no life.

sounds like a power problem, if is plugged into a power strip, try plugging into a wall.

also if you have or can borrow a volt meter check the power cord that way.

the power cord that goes into the printer , has a hole in it , put 1 of the volt meter probes in the hole
and the other probe touch the outside sliver part..

the voltage you should read, is written on the square part (the bigger part) of the power cord.

HP Officejet 6310 scans once but then says scanner failure

hi,

that error message is nothing to do with the software part, it actaully hardware issue try the following,

1) unplug the machine and connect it to wall outlet directly,
2) unplug the power cord from the printer and press and hold ON for 1 min and release the ON button and plug it back..
3) Disconnect the power cord from the product.Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons and if printer turns off, turn it back ON and wait until it cmopletes its instialization and if still persists, it a hardware failure...............

HP Officejet 6310-all-in-one won't fax or scan

Go into your HP settings in your applications and use the HP Scan Pro. You can tell your printer/scanner to scan that way and it works. My scan button still doesn't work but if I access HP Scan Pro module from my computer I can scan.

Reset power

try doing the special key reset but this good as once ok?
- make sure that your printer is connected directly to the wall outlet.
- unplug the power cord of your printer w/o turning it off.
- press and hold the # and 6 key and while holding them both replug the power cord of the printer.
- and do not release the two buttons, after the printer starts on and off again thats the time you will release the two buttons.
- just do the steps once. if still not ressolved contact HP.

My Officejet 6310xi All-in-one keeps going to power reset also. I went to hp.com and followed the recommended troubleshooting steps there. I also used the directions to reset the printer to factory...

Hi. I just got off of the phone with an HP case manager. I was ready for a refund, but he helped me and now my printer is working fine. The key is to have your Officejet 6310 plugged directly into a wall socket. The variations of power through a surge protector often cause a power shortage to the unit. The 6310 needs the 110 volts to operate. Surge protectors will sometimes rob the unit of this power. Follow these steps:
1. Unplug the power cable & ethernet/usb cable from the unit (stand alone mode). Let it sit for a minute.
2. Plug the power cable directly into a wall socket. Then plug the power cable into the 6310.
3. After it powers up, push the "Setup" button.
4. Right arrow to "2.Print Report."
5. Press "OK" button.
6. Right arrow to "4.Self-Test Report."
7. Press "OK" button.
A page should print showing alignment and color settings. Now you're back in business!
