Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

C6180 unable to find paper jam

Hi,

I am asked repeatedly to clear the paper jam and reinsert new paper into the tray by my printer. I have checked around the print cartridge, the paper tray, and I even tried to remove the whole paper tray, but nothing seems to work.

    Hi all,

I found the problem: I took a mini flashlight, and I saw a crumpled piece of paper in the very back of the unit. I then found an easily opened hatch on the back wall of the unit, and I removed the paper.

Solution Follow the steps below until the above issue is resolved. All of the following steps may not be necessary to resolve the issue. Step one: Clear any paper or carriage path obstructions Right-click the link below to open a new browser window with specific instructions about how to clear paper jams. When you have completed paper jam removal instructions, return to this point in these instructions to continue resolving a carriage stall. Click here for information on resolving paper jams (c00107909). (in English). Moving the carriage

  1. With the product turned on, open the print cartridge access door. The print carriage might try to move into the access area. If so, allow it to move to that position.
  2. Without turning off the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. Unplug the power cord from the power source. The power cord must be unplugged to allow the parts to be moved by hand and to reset the paper feed mechanism, without the risk of an electrical shock.
  3. Looking in through either the print cartridge access door or the output paper tray, verify that the print cartridges are locked into the carriage and have not come loose. Also verify that there are no obstructions under or around the carriage to block it from moving.
  4. Verify that the print carriage can move freely across the width of the product by gently pushing the carriage to the left and then to the right. Clear any obstructions found. You may have to reach through the output paper tray to access the print carriage.
  5. Close the print cartridge access door and plug the power cord back to the back of the product. Plug the power cord into the power source.
  6. Press the On button to turn on the product.
  7. Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.

    • If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step.
Step two: Ensure correct installation of the front panel overlay If the front panel overlay, or bezel, is incorrectly installed, the product may indicate a false carriage stall error condition. If the front panel overlay is already installed, and your printer has been working for some time, do not attempt to re-install the overlay. Press firmly on the overlay to ensure proper installation of the overlay adhesive or pins.
NOTE: 12If the front panel overlay is already installed, proceed to the next step.
  1. Insert the two tabs of the bezel into the top slots on the unit. Figure 1: Inserting the tabs c00303994.gif

  2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the all-in-one.
  3. Unplug the product cable from any power strips or surge suppressors, and plug it directly into a grounded (three-prong) wall outlet.
  4. Plug the power cable into the back of the all-in-one.
  5. Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.
    • If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions on this page.

SOURCE: Carriage Paper Jam in Photosmart hp c6180 all-in-one-printer

Here's what you do. Take a look at the photo below.
Open the cover of the printer, where the ink cartridges are located. Behind the ink cartridges is the carriage, which is a box that moves side-to-side on a pair of rails. It's the thing that sprays the ink onto the paper.

You have to reach in with your hand and slide this thing to the center. Then, look to the very sides, left and right, for any bits of paper. If you look at the second picture, you can see my finger pointing to a small bit of paper that tore of and got jammed into the side. See the little crumpled bit of paper? It's preventing the carriage from sliding all the way to the right. You could have little bits on the right or left side. I had to reach in with needle-nose pliers to grab the paper bits out, but maybe your fingers are small enough.

Once the little bits of paper were out, I was back in business. Good luck!

The printer is showing that paper jam but there is no paper in the printer.

Open the tray in the front and remove the toner cartridge, open the back panel and make sure that is is clear as well, and then slide open and closed the paper tray. Now reinsert the toner.

For some reason when this thing jams, if there isn't an actual paper jam then you have to check every panel before it will let you move on. You don't even have to remove any paper half the time...just open and close each panel and remove-reinsert the toner.

Photo tray output problem

I fixed it just now and easiest, following the step below:

1) Can you see the blue thing between the paper tray and the printing tray? That's the Output Tray! Just press it back in as much as u could
(but don't break it). Then you trying print (testing), they might have a paper jam but its normal. After the jam, they will tell to dismantle the jammed paper at the back.

2) Shut down (or restart) your printer (unplug the power switch or it won't work). Plug it in again and then just simply its done!

3) If it won't work, repeat the previous step again... Good Luck ;)
