Hello. First, use the viewfinder to open the menu(you'll be able to see it better!) Find the reset option and perform a reset. This will change everything back to factory new. If the screen is still dark, the LCD display might well be going bad. Or, the problem could be a cracked or defective circuit which controls the display. How old is the unit? If any warranty is available, definitely send in the device for repair. Hope I assisted you.---Rick

Hi Jane,
When we press the shutter release the mirror flips up after the shutter opens and closes the mirror flips down. When it flips down we then see out the viewfinder.

At first blush is sounds as though the mirror flipped up but not back down. Remove the lens look inside the camera press the shutter release what happens?

Cordially,

Sony cybershot t300 lcd screen remains dark when switched on

Hi,
Your camera must be experiencing these symptoms due to a faulty CCD, and not due to other problems. If the problem is due to your dropping the camera, you might be out of luck.
If you have not dropped your camera and still facing this problem, then contact service people to replace the CCD imager in your camera .

Hope this helps .

Flip up screen won,t illuminate. dark

if the screen needs to be wired to the dash light switch it will not change unless the lights are on, if the wire is disconnected it is possible to bypass it making the screen stay bright.
although it would seem more likely that the brightness could be adjusted on the unit settings or by a button on the unit itself

Dark video

I know a few years a good the best camera for filming inside was one with a single large chip. Most cameras have multiple smallish ones apparently to give you good colour quality.
You need light to reflect the wavelength of a colour, so if there is no light the CCJ's (digital equivalent to light sensitive grains) have difficulty deciding what to do or what shade to give, (the absence of colour is not a colour,) giving you a grainy effect. You can increase the amount of light into a camera in low conditions ie shutter speed but this may give you blurred photos.
