You need to change your TV's settings and enhancements. Directly from the store and out of the box, the settings are adjusted for easiest sell in the store. That means that:
Your contrast is cranked to 100. Move this down to 50 to 60.
Your brightness may also be cranked up high. Lower it to a level nearer the middle range but not so dark as to lose detail in the shadows.
Your TV is set on "Dynamic" or "Vivid" mode. Pick "natural" or "normal" or standard.
Your sharpness is at least on, if not cranked up. Turn sharpness down or off, and the same with "Edge Enhancement" and "VSM", all to off.
Lastly, I bet you upgraded size and you are now sitting too close to the TV. Roughly, if you are sitting closer than 130 inches (about 11 foot) you might do some rearranging or save some money and get a smaller TV.

Sounds like you may have connected the cables incorrectly, or the cable may me bad. The cable company likely provided you with component video cables, which are red green and blue. Ensure that these are connected to the correct plugs on both ends of the cables.
If that does not fix the issue, I would ask for a replacement cable or box.
You may also be interested in buying an HDMI cable if your box supports it.

SOURCE: Unable to use PS3 on HD channel
1. Connect PS3 to your TV
2. Select the Correct HDMI input on your TV
3. Press and hold the [power] button on the PS3
4. perform setup.
These are the steps to setup the video output for the PS3, It is possible that it is set to a resolution that your TV does not support.
If this doesn't work, you may want to contact Sanyo to ask if they have some protection circuit for the HDMI input. Some manufactures TV's will deactivate(turn OFF) the HDMI input under certain conditions. Unplugging the TV or some other procedure usually turns it back ON.
