Question about Sony D-NF340 Portable CD Players
My Sony portable cd player (D-NF340) is about 1 and a half years old. It will not play CDs that I have been playing in it for this past time. The screen says that there is no CD in the player. What can I do to fix this problem if possible?
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

There is a switch on the bottom of the unit that puts it in "HOLD" mode. My guess its for use when it is shipped so there will be less chance of damage. Try switching the two position switch to the other position.

It's dead. Mine did the same thing, but I noticed also that the disc never spun up fast enough to be read successfully. I'm guessing that the motor just lost its oomph. I imagine that one way or another it's fixable, but with portables so cheap and a player this old not being able to read anything but manufactured CDs, i.e., no CD-R, CD-RW, etc., it's not worth it. And mine was old enough to vote! :)
