I would guess the belt that powers the drive unit has broken. It needs to be replaced.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. The cleaner should recline easily into the vacuuming position when one foot is placed on the cleaner head, and the handle is lowered. If it's not doing this, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Oreck upright hard to push

If hard to push, only a few things to check:

(1) Rear wheels will get hair or thread wrapped around axles, dust, etc. and be hard to turn. Make sure each wheel turns easily.

(2) Small wheels on newer models (since about 1997-98) toward front are worn, missing or have same problem as item 1.

(3) Brush roll not turning. The brush roll actually helps pull this unit along the floor, as it rotates in the "forward" direction. If the belt broke, and you do not realize it, it may suddenly seem harder to push.

Need to open the electrolux vacum

The locking key on the side of the vac has a tightening wedge on it so it doesn't slide easily. Spray the entire key top and bottom with WD40 or similar. Grasp at the bag door area with vise grips and pull the key straight forward.
If the key will not slide, you will need to take a large flat bladed screwdriver and lay the blade flat at 90 degrees against the back end of the key. then strike the side driving the key forward toward the bag chamber door. Do not twist.

Rotating Floor Brush Isin't spinning

It appears that the end of the brush is getting jammed with hairs, treads, and/or dust or the belt may be worn. Try taking the brush out and hold it by the ends and try to turn it. It should turn quite easily if it is working good. If not try taking the ends off and clean them out. Also, make sure the belt is good.

G2000 Kirby HELP

I'm not familiar with this type of vacuum, but if it's like most kirby's the powerhead gets all its motion off the tapered spindle underneath the powerhead. IF the belt is installed backwards on this spindle then all motions are reversed. there should be an arrow stamped into the blower housing. the belt should be installed so it is nearest to the arrow in the direction of the arrow on the housing.

E drive problem. Self propelled feature drives in reverse, but not in forward.

This is basically the same problem with a Hoover power drive only the forward still drives albeit slowly and a slight "push" to keep it going. There has to be a common core type of drive failure !!
