The switch is fried, do not use! Replace switch immediately. This can cause a fire. Find a switch that will work for you at the hardware store.

8.5 kohler generator battery dies often

Check the battery charger whether an external one is installed or the optional one ion the transfer switch. Measure the voltage on the battery it should be at least 13.8V if it is only 12V then the charger is suspect. Also if it is an external charger plugged into a receptacle make sure that the 120V receptacle is hot (GFI's) tend to trip in a storm

How to wire a cooper Quadra Mark MH 277 Volt light

Quadra mark is commercial metal halide light
It appears the 208-240 480V model is different from 120, 277 or 347V model.
You cannot connect 277Volt light to 240Volt
These are two different things.
Commercial 277V has 1 hot leg and a neutral (very similar to residential 120V which also has 1 hot leg and neutral)
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/How-to-wire-outlets-14.jpg
While residential 240V has 2 hot legs
http://waterheatertimer.org/See-inside-main-breaker-box.html

Check rating label on light and see if it shows 120V in addition to 277V
If rating plate shows 120V, then it should work.

Residential 240Volt has 2 hot legs, each Hot leg measures 120V to ground
So you can use one Hot leg from the 240Volt breaker, and use ground wire to make 120Volt circuit.
Using ground wire to complete circuit in this manner is completely out of code and not recommended by any professional electrician. But it will work.

I have a electric dryer Model WED5810SW0 THAT I WAS TOLD I COULD CONVERT TO 120V from 240v is this true and if so how do i do this?

If you consider doing this the first thing is SHUT THE MAIN BREAKER OFF. Use an auxiliary light source to see when working in a dead panel. Always keep in mind an ARC FLASH ACROSS HOT MAINS HAS ENOUGH HEAT TO PEAL THE SKIN OFF OF YOU. Before an explanation of how to do it you should keep in mind that this is for a single receptacle only. If any other receptacles are on the same circuit they will also be changed to 240 volt receptacles and if you plug any 120 volt device into them, the 120 volt device will be destroyed. That said OK, any 120 volt outlet can be changed to 240 volt by removing the 120 volt circuits neutral, re identifying the white wire with red or black phase tape and connecting it to a new 2 pole 15 amp breaker. The maximum that this circuit will now load up to is, on #14 wire at 80% = 12 amps at 240 volts. The 120V receptacle must be changed to a 15A - 240V receptacle so that 120 volt devices can not be plugged into it. Never use 2 single pole breakers together because code requires that on a fault trip both legs of the 240V circuit must be disconnected simultaneously. Our 2-way converters are voltage transformers that convert power from both 220 to 110 volts and 110 to 220 volts. They also work with 100 volts, 110 volts, 120 volts, 220 volts and 240 volts. I would like a wiring diagram for an outdoor receptacle controlled by a photocell. Photo cell has 1 each black wire, red wire and white wire.

If I understand correctly, you want to add a photocell to existing receptacle.

Start by looking at receptacle:
Receptacle has 3 different colored screws.
Green screw for bare ground wire
Brass screws with black Hot wire connected.
Silver screws with white Neutral wire.

How to wire photocell to receptacle.
Remove black Hot wire off of brass screw and connect black wire to photocell-black wire. This will power the photocell switch.
Connect photocell-red wire to brass screw on receptacle. This will turn receptacle on-off whenever photocell switch turns on-off.
Connect photocell-white wire to silver screw, and this will complete circuit to photocell switch so the switch is able to operate.
All white Neutral wires are connected to silver screws.

We are replacing an old switch plug combo with a leviton T5625. We have two black wires, two white wires and ground. The old combo just had one black wire connected to the screw on the right side of the...

Leviton T5625 has shutter (tamper resistant) mechanism that blocks access to the contacts unless a two-prong plug is inserted. My understanding is this mechanism prevents child from sticking piece of metal into receptacle and getting shocked. Tamper resistant receptacles are code for new home construction, and receptacle is marked with TR. The light switch part of device works at all times, with or without two-prong plug in receptacle.

Electricians test, they don't guess.

Let's test your wires using ordinary two-prong tester.
Tape wood sticks to tester leads to keep hands away from power. Stand on dry surface or wood boards. Do not shake or sweat.
Separate wires for testing
Turn power ON.
Test each wire to bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on Hot wire. Hot wire connects to either dark-colored screw, as long as there is a brass connector plate that connects both dark colored screws. If connector plate is missing, add a jumper wire between both dark screws so they are connected together.
Hot wire is identified.
Now test Hot wire to each other wire, except bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on neutral wire. Neutral wire connects to silver screw.
If neutral wire is white wire, AND both white wires were connected together before, then they both connect to silver screw.
The last wire is the Load wire that goes to fan, light, motor. Load wire connects to brass colored screw.
Double check instructions with instructions on new device.
Add a comment any time.

You can also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, fixya expert speaks to you over the phone while you test and wire the device.

How to fix a 55,000 BTU torpedo heater. Change filters and spark plug. Not fueling.R

Clean the injector located right beside the spark plug and check both rubber tubes that connect to the housing that the injector screws into and finally make sure you turn the plastic screw on the plate where the filter goes. This screw regulates the air pressure . One of the screws is for a pressure gauge and the other one adjusts the air pressure.

Want light

first thing you should do is make sure that there is ignition whether by spark plug or hot surface igniter. If you have ignition then make sure that you have fuel spraying from the injector located beside the igniter. If you don't have ignition, chances are you have a bad igniter or spark plug. A failed transformer would be the last thing I'd conclude as bad.
